This has always been Jimin. He’s always been sensual and adorable at the same time. He’s always been a brilliant dancer and his voice is so unique. He’s always known how to write catchy hooks. This album just shows him at his fullest. I’m so glad he decided to do a solo album.

Jimin really outdid himself with his album. There is so much depth to it. It's so dark and painful, it broke my heart, but I really admire his courage to expose his most vulnerable side and darkest emotions to us, creating this masterpiece of an album. After listenning to it in his entirety Set Me Free pt2 becomes even more powerful and I fall in love with the song even more. It's dark, it's painful, but it's triumphant. On the other hand, what Jimin did with Like Crazy should be illegal, like, why this song makes you wanna dance and cry at the same time? It's dreamy, upbeat and full of despair all at once. And the MV is amazing as well, it can be interpreted in so many ways. I could talk about it all day. Can't wait for your reaction.

Jimin said this song is about his feelings during covid and how he was afraid everything will end and he will be alone .. i can feel it because Bts during covid were so so sad they planned a WORLD TOUR and many things to do with fans before they go to the military and announce about it but everything cancelled they stopped doing what they love , they were suffering because the thing that gathers them with each other and with us is music .. Jimin cried in their online concert because of this as well so it’s sad actually.. i hope they are okay now 💜

Probably, that's why that movie (about long distance romance) inspired Jimin with this song - situation where BTS (and him) being completely separated from Army during the pandamic, without any resolution in sight (planned concerts being cancelled, etc) and thereby Jimin felt that he (and BTS) would eventually be forgotten (the feeling of being estranged). The club scene maybe represents being in BTS concerts (he rather be lost in the lights) - meanwhile, 'going crazy' being so alive but not able to do anything with Army (being useless). So many references to his/BTS situation during pandamic.

♦Jimin mentioned that one of his fav movies “Like Crazy” inspired parts of the song aside from the title of song. In the beginning as well as ending to the song, he even took, excerpts from it. Jimin has also said that many of the songs on the album convey what he was going through, his thoughts, his feelings, his emotions as well as despair & depression, during the pandemic in the last few yrs. He also was hoping that many could help others by way of relating & going through similar difficulties during pandemic. So this song Like Crazy, could also be during that time, thinking back while laying his head down, on table in that depressing small room, dreaming of the better times in the past, when he was free to enjoy himself, as wel as being with someone or with friends, or even around ppl in general, being able to be free to go out & party. Which is why he even said in the lyrics please don’t wake me up from this dream. I want to stay here.. Maybe that was what all the dirty grimyness also represented, despair of situation, how he felt or how things were at that time, even when it seemed to even ooze into his dream state.

The woman in the music video who walks towards Jimin, but stands opposite, facing him. She represents his reflection and feminine side. At that same part in the dance choreography, he mirrors dance moves with a female dancer who again symbolizes his reflection, while singing the lyrics "All my reflections I can't recognize." He also looks into the washroom mirror here at this part. Knowing this info, a clear interpretation is that this song is not a love story with a separate person, the "she" is an aspect of him & it's about a relationship with the self. The photos printed on his pants in the MV is of Robert Mapplethorpe and his lover Sam Wagstaff. They were queer artists who photographed powerful scenes of queer romance. One of Jimin's backup dancers in the performance is Bo Park, a genderqueer dancer and teacher from Korea. They wrote a very sweet, emotional message on Instagram, saying they had been questioning their identity & Jimin helped them feel comforted in being who they are on stage.

hi hi!~ I have a theory I've seen been thrown around. I've been looking through some theories of his album and specifically this song so far, and I think I found one that makes the most sense to me at least, so id like to share it :) If you look at the album, its all about reflection. Reflection of the past self. Ones pain, ones successes, and ones overall being. In the Like Crazy MV, the camera cuts to a girl who is mirroring Jimin's actions when he walks. She could potentially be his reflection in girl form. "Face, the reflection of myself in an unfamiliar appearance. Face of facing the deepest part of inner-self." (Quote from the album) So many are actually questioning if this could represent the questioning and conflict between Jimin's masculine and feminine sides. Maybe meaning trying to accept it all but never really coming to terms with himself, hence why they didn't meet in the MV and he went back to being alone at the end of the night. I feel like if you look at Jimin's journey, and how he has struggled with his masculine and feminine sides, it really does make sense. I feel like this theory really has also came to life after the choreography for Like Crazy. One reason being that throughout the choreography, Jimin is being pulled and almost fought over by both genders. And also because the girl he dances with isn't really doing anything sensual with him like many expected, she's actually being his reflection.

Jimin already is the King of kpop for many years. He is simply cementing his title. The troubled love story in the LIKE CRAZY movie which Jimin said had inspire this song is possibly a parallel between Jimin and ARMY. Jimin couldn't meet ARMY during the pandemic, he couldnt do live shows and for someone who live on the stage and for ARMY, that was crazy depressing for him. We know that Jimin is a drinker. He could be drinking to escape his sorrows. I hope its only that and not other things, the English version specifically mentioned "ice", yikes. I hope its just ice in his drink. hehe. Jimin's personal messages to ARMY during the pandemic have also been the most hard hitting addressing mental health. When Jimin performed again at MOTS:ONE concert, he was overwhelmed and broke down and cried and shared that he suffered so much, how difficult it was not to be able to meet and perform for ARMY. He also said recently that the album is his personal chronology during covid and has to do with his Depression. There are other theories floating around too such as the link to Anima, one of the 4 MOTS Jungian concepts not explored by BTS yet (RM - Persona, Suga - Shadow, Jhope - Ego). In the dance practice version, we can see the Korean girl and Jimin dancing. It looked as if she is his love interest but look carefully, they are mirroring each other's moves (not obvious in the stage performance because the girl wasn't 100% in synch with Jimin's moves - her arms moved more and she jumped too early), but the girl in the practice is on point. So the girl could be a reflection of himself, his Anima. The meaning of the Anima is one's true self in the subconscious level which often get manifested in dreams. And this whole mv is a dream. So for me, Jimin wasn't singing about any love interest in the traditional sense.

In the lyrics he said he couldn't recognize his reflection, so to me the girl being the complete opposite of himself was away to convey the feelings of being in such a state where he didn't recognize himself at all! In other words the person in the mirror was a distorted view of himself.

Iam surprised bookish theories did not pick up on the mapplethorpe portrait on the leather pants he wears… it’s a very very strong cultural reference to an artist of the eighties…. She also did not speak to the muddy hand pulling him into the dream club being the hand of the same girl shown later in the video wandering through the crowd looking for someone just as jimin is … My own interpretation is that the film reference is a tool to explain his “stuck” situation during the pandemic… that drinking and dreaming were all that there were sometimes.

Jimin wrote his songs about his own expirience during the pandemic, he poured all his feelings and thoughts in his album Face. The mv for Like crazy was inspired in the movie because Jimin thought it fit the concept of the song not the other way around. But i understand is open to interpretation, i even saw someone thinking the album was about alcohol problems 😅

The Explanation Video describe the obvious or is it just me. I think there are so many layers in this song and video. Like BTS also Jimin solo created a piece of art many people can relate and resonate to. There are many theories and I think they are valid. I am shipping that the essence is not the references to the film, it's more that he have struggling with himself. His identity. He didn't speak open about it but he telling us something and we need to listen. Anyone noticed the photo of Mapplethorpe on his leg? May brother admire the Art from Mapplethorpe! He is known in the queer community for his act and bdsm photographies. This is not random. They didn't put this photo there by accident 😅 I wonder if Jimins Photofolio was inspired by Mapplethorpe. You know bc of all the varnish and leather. I love the song like crazy bc it's deep, sexy, danceable and a new side of my bias. I love chapter 2

That is one interpretation that has a lot of merrit but it is not the only possible one. That he doesn't care for gender norms on the other is perfectly known. People think that the women that comes towards him in the club is part of him as when they "meet" he is looking into a mirror (it is also in the mirrored choreo). Mapplethorpe has done a lot more than those "scandalous" photos. I read a bit about him and he is known for quiet a bit more, especially his black/white style. Sometimes you don't like the most well known piece of an artist (they also may only be know in some special group of people) but something else entirely, maybe obscure piece/b-side. And that is if he conscious choose these pants. Oh, he probably said what kind of clothes he wanted and wardrobe brought him stuff to choose from. Difficult to say without his input. (I once read a piece about Shinee reading some comments and asking fans what they should wear. One had a strong opinion that they could wear whatever but not what Taemin wore last time: a pair of trousers with fat lettering over the crotch area "open hear": none of them had noticed - and there is also the BTS vid of Taehyung for the ON vid were he said he is curious how Army would interpret his "tattoo" as it seems BTS/the team hadn't given it meaning at all) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ At the end of the day without Jimin's words it is speculation even if some interpretations are far more likely than others. 💜

But I have, honestly jissed her voice, That brought me back to my baby ARMY days when I was entering my BU phase. I can't say hoe much Bookish Theories helped me stay more or less on track.

Just wanted to remind you guys that when you watch explanation videos like those of bookish theories they are all just that.. theories. They’re great and let you see things you might have missed or give you other views but in the end this is art that BTS have always said that even if they have specific stories in mind when they make music it is still there for you to make your own interpretations of it and find the connections that work with you. So yes explanation videos can give you new ideas or context especially with the giant universe BTS has created connecting all of their work but some things bookish theories says they say them like fact but it’s all just speculation and a theory…

❣️ There is choreography dance practice for Jimin’s song “Like Crazy” which I recommend you react to: CHOREOGRAPHY] 지민 (Jimin) 'Like Crazy' Dance Practice. JIMIN the night before, also was on Jimmy Fallon for interview. But for Fridays viewing, not only did Jimin perform, but did a couple of hilarious skits with Jimmy. They are all, I believe posted on the Bangtantv channel, as well as Jimmy Fallon tonight show YT channel. Jimin will also be performing this song as well as others from his FACE album on Korean Music shows. But sadly one of the favs from album Face-Off has been censored, in other words won’t be allowed to be performed, on Korean music shows, more then likely main reason, because of the language used (lots of cussing). Lol!

Like Crazy Choreography Theory Since Jimin said this album was about his emotions through the pandemic I feel like that was portrayed in the dance with the male dancers representing BTS members and the female dancers representing ARMY. At the beginning everyone is leaning on each other, looking for comfort. When the dance changes to formation reminiscent of BTS formations Jimin dances mainly with the male dancers. When he’s in the midst of the female dancers they are pushing him this way and that. I feel like that’s how Jimin felt when he received so many messages from ARMY talking about how hard it was. When he dances one on one with the female dancer it’s not sexual instead they mirror each other, possibly reflecting how Jimin saw how what he was going through was similar to what ARMY faced. That part even ends with him even leaning on ARMY and ARMY leaning on him. If you notice the BTS dance references, beside the Dionysus one (which since the song is about being drunk on hard work and art fits), the other references are all Dynamite, Butter, 3J Butter remix dance, and PTD. Again representing the dances that they did during the pandemic. At the end though ARMY leaves first, then the members leaving Jimin all alone. Let me know if you saw this or something completely different. I’m curious! 😄

this was not mentioned in the explanation, but the girl in the video represent his reflaction which you can see in the choreography. THe choreography also can represent his feminine/masculine side, which is why he's first dancing with men and then the female dancers are "pulling him". at the end he's dancing in sync with both male and female dancers, he finally accepted they both are part of him. It also fits with set me free coming later in the album also the picture on his pants from the mv is a photographer Mapplethorpe . "His most controversial works documented and examined the gay male BDSM subculture of New York City in the late 1960s and early 1970s."

@@deleahsmith916 ?? music is a form of art so anyone can interpret it as they want to. Joon said that the moment they release music it's not longer theirs, but fans to interpret The video they watched also talked about the mud which was not mentioned by jimin, so is that also "reading too much". Theories about the mv was always a big part of this fandom. I sad that "the choreography CAN represent" cause they asked for people to talk about the dance part they could have missed, i never said it was 100% true just that it CAN mean that.

@panda yes I get what you are saying, and you're right. I know there are many interpretations. I've seen that a lot with BTS MVs and songs in general, but when ppl interpret, they typically say its how they feel about it in regards to themselves, but I don't like when a person makes it seems like the artist said it directly. If that makes sense. And I wasn't saying that's what you did, but there are some that are.

If u listen to the interlude or prelude to this song..its him pouring himself a drink. After this, the Song is Alone... which expresses his loneliness..its only when he works through this darkness is he able to Set himself Free..which comes after these song. Its basically his journey to find himself n find light n get himself out of this darkness that haunts him at times

I don't know how to explain it but this song, mv and specially the live performance just reminds me of MJ....Jimin has this sensuality that is reminiscent of MJ, he can come off strong and aggressive with his performances but at the same time he can also be sensual and sexy....And like MJ, Jimin is really gentle and soft spoken as a person. Plus, the way he dances is very MJ-like and of course his voice too! they have a similar timbre. This goes to show that he is a very very VERY talented artist, not all singers can be as versatile as him.

You guys didn't really give yourselves enough time to think or analyse the MV in its details and went straight into a theory video. This is fine of course for the sake of the video, but I'm sure you would've been able to come up with your own interpretations and theories if you just sat on it a little more. That's the great thing about good art - it makes you think and ponder and come up with your own opinions based on your own experiences. I've seen different theories on the MV and they're all valid (like the hand in the beginning being a future Jimin from Set Me Free Pt.2 to force his past self through this process of getting lost in order to move forward etc.). I think the MV really captured the dreamy vibes of the song, his mind going crazy and also showing that contrast between dream & reality. It also gives me short film vibes which is fitting that it's inspired by a movie.
