Hendrix wasnt the greatest guitarist in the world....he was the greatest channeler of sound from another dimension.
I was so lucky to see Jimi Hendrix at Newport 69 all three days he was the best he's still the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I met with jimi back in 1947 and he was playing a guitar . It was a strat .
There will never be another Jimi Hendrix in the history of the universe, period.
Can't believe all these cool beautiful people at the concert are now in their 70s.
that singing and the connection between jimi and the drummer/singer is absolutely beautiful oh my god
I was there all three days. Hendrix and the entire festival was great. Memorable experience. 👍🏾
Besides the obvious, Jimi's mad and beautiful playing, I love the whole loosey-goosey vibe of the time. Everything nowadays is so professional and, face it, bland when it comes to popular performing arts. Here we've got people wandering about behind the amps, stage hands rushing out to adjust the drums in the middle of a song, and a really bizarre stage setup. It's all just kind of by the seat of their pants and so much fun. Innocent days.
It only takes ONE PERSON to make the World FANTASTIC !
I was there, standing right near where the spot where this was filmed. I clearly remember that day. It was insufferably hot but the music was great. I missed Friday, but went on Saturday and Sunday. I saw some great performances by some great bands: Jethro Tull, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Steppenwolf, Johnny Winter, Booker T, Chambers Brothers, Jimi, and more.
The concerts in the late 60's were the greatest, Jimi Hendrix/Robin Trower/ Jefferson Airplane. I can go on and on
Nobody was anywhere near Jimi's level of talent, he was a master virtuoso , his fingerboard wizardry changed the entire sound of rock guitar and the way it would be played forever...
Once you start watching Hendrix, any Hendrix, you are basically stuck to that.
He played Friday, & wasn't on his game...so though not scheduled, he came out Sunday & mumbled something about Friday, then proceeded to kick butt, & jam with others besides the band. It was a great day.
Wonderful peace Jimmy playing with buddy miles Singing so great.
People will never be able to comprehend what Jimi was doing then, playing through inferior equipment that frequently broke down. In fact we owe it to Jimi that new equipment had to be invented so that he could play what he was hearing in his head. In many ways it would be like a genius painter given no brushes and limited paint that he had to create himself. Yet, guitarists are still scratching their heads trying to figure out how he got the sounds he did, his technicality, and the ability to orchestrate consistently and concisely with feedback. I will forever be in awe of Jimi, he is the greatest indisputably of all time.
and look at the atmosphere . so cool and relaxed ... oh the good old times!
He put every drop of emotion in every note!
This was the best concert i was at. I will never forget it.
I went to this event. But I went on Saturday. Creedence Clearwater, Jethro Tull, Steppenwolf, Etc.
