I never thought about power transfer from running poles that are collapsing vs straight. Poles are definitely an advantage. Great interview.

Great point on how 'high' the low temp is. Oh 2017, I remember it was something like 92 still at midnight. So rough.......

Good interview. Great guy who I like more and more as he ages. Having watched decades of tennis, it makes me think of the past generation of tennis greats who were not compensated fairly. I hope this superb sport of ultra trail evolves in financial terms so that elite athletes are rewarded highly for their relatively short careers. 😊💰😎☀

Good chilled listen, thanks. Would love to hear Jim on something like Watts Occurring (other podcasts are available) or getting the opportunity to exchange experiences and philosophy with some grand tour riders.

He's obviously just pre-race chillin with his lowkey efficient answers. Saving NRG for the race! Maximum STOKE

He's a bit spicy for sure, but I think he's a good chap who just likes to run and that's all good I think.

To be honest there are very few runners who have any charisma. Running is growing, but I think it would get much more attention if some of our best runners had some personality.

He’s in the zone on race week. Doesn’t want to give anything away. Doesn’t want to think about the competition. I just see a focused athlete who is nice enough to do media on race week.

@@Poseycd fair point. Maybe we have unfair expectations in our sport for athletes to be chilled out loveable mountain goats

What gave you this impression? He’s calm, respectful and quite talkative.Bear in mind he’s training really hard for this race,so might be a bit tired.
