Jim Roese SPL - Waves Multirack 9 over Thunderbolt on Midas Pro Series Consoles.m4v

SPL's resident mad scientist Jim Roese is at it again!! When Waves asked us here at SPL to review the newly launched Waves Version 9.0 plug-ins, Jim immediately jumped at the chance to implement it into his ever growing list of Midas AES50 solutions. We knew enough to expect something from Jim. We knew it would be good, but per Jim's usual ways of doing things, we didn't know quite what that might be. We expected a review on the Waves software that had been licensed to him, but didn't realize we would also be treated to a review of the newly released Sonnet xMac mini-server in action, let alone be treated to a sneak preview of a functioning version of (the currently unavailable to public) Lynx Firmware 12.8 for their AES16e50 PCIe cards that has fixed all issues known to the card since it's release back in 2009. The video is a bit longer than usual, but for those of you who have met or know Jim personally, it's actually shorter than an actual conversation with him!!! Enjoy!!

5.9ms is actually very usable. As long as the source isn't being double bussed inside the console, that can be accounted for in using an empty rack slot in the Waves Multirack keeping the internal Midas latency compensated back to zero. At that point it could be the difference of where the PA is hung in the venue by about 5 feet or less than 2 meters, which in many cases isn't dictated by the engineer anyways. I'm assuming most people will be more than happy with that latency number. --Jim

And we'll work on getting you a price. THis stuff is being put together by Jim and there's not an official price list from Midas or Waves or anything like that. Thanks for responding.

does the linx card in the mac mini expansion also work with a behringer/midas X32 running with AES50? that would be kick ass! can you send the links for the mac mini 19 inch unit aswell as the linx card? thank you
