@@benjaminlehman3221 They were under contract with a production company that wad owned by Disney for the seasons that make up the bulk of their videos. At this time, ERB was in fact owned by Disney. It's now just a side project again, which is why there are so many fewer new videos. (And Lloyd and Peter having moved on to other things!)

I come back to watch this occasionally, and it gets scarier every time…

If there is one of those things you really wish you could forget just to experience then again, this ERB has to be it. Disney's total dominion here is not even for debate, every bar was a scary heavy hitter one after the other. Every part of his performance gave me chill. "In fact I own this whole series" is such a meta flex too, considering that at the time Disney DID own ERB, and that ending with "Gaze upon my empire of joy!" followed by the instrumental ending is such a somber and amazing way to end the battle. There is no question of who won, nothing else to say, just absolute dominion by Disney owning everything and everyone involved, literally.

Walt Disney himself was okay. He actually wanted for several of his parks to be Chicago World's fair-type events. But then when he died, his company basically decided that that wouldn't make enough money, and changed most of his plans :(

@@Zecer00 Your father has some pretty rose-tinted glasses; Walt was a fanatic for his art, willing to grind to dust anyone who got in the way of it. He created a virtually-sovereign state inside of Florida to run his company as he wished, without pesky governmental labour laws. EPCOT was intended to be a 'company town' where all his employees and their families would live so he could have control over them in perpetuity. A passionate man, but still one with fanatical fervour that did MUCH ILL to his overworked employees. The Disney company just kept sailing along the course Walt had set, after he died. And in point of fact, decades of outside influence and different visions from the subsequent 'monarchs' have resulted in 'The Mouse' softening compared to what Walt would've wanted.

The first time I heard that change from Henson’s soothing words to the cold, taunting “M I C!” I legit got goosebumps. Truly fitting for the frequently exploitative and occasionally evil practices of Disney.

I regularly rewatch this and still tear up when Stan talks about missing Jim. It’s even sadder now since Stan is gone too.

I saw this when it premiered and to this day Disney’s part still fills me with unexplainable rage. This one was one of the most powerful battles they’ve ever made.

It's a pretty sweet moment where they stop fighting and bond over being awesome. Two legends that will be missed.

That was genuinely touching for a second there... before it got real dark :/

I know this has a really positive message and acts as a celebration of the creative powers of these two men, but "I'm impressed by all the vision that it took for you to sign your name on all of Jack Kirby's comic books" might be the most savage line in all of ERB.

Major respect to Zach Sherwin here. Amazing lines and the fact that he had to widen his eyes for so long between lyrics is so respectable

The second half of this isn't a rap battle. It's a scary but realistic portrait of the modern Walt Disney company. And I will always respect this one for that
