Master of his trade. Impressive- we need Jim to train many apprentice.
Nick, glad I finally got around to meeting you at National. Jim is the best in the business, I had him make me a pattern stock for my Sporter in September. I need one of those recoil pads!!!!!

Hi, Nicholas. What narrowing on your sports weapon do you use?
Approximately how much does that cost?

TA DURISIMS 😁
Just down the road in Hutchinson and I build bespoke rifles…from scratch but I’d never finish a stock with spray lacquer, m in me are all hand rubbed oil.

To be fair, we don't really know what he's spraying there. Also, he continued to work on the stock, so probably not the final finish...?

@@dooleyfussle8634 Ah, that’s a can of Deft Lacquer if I’m not mistaken. I know because I use it in my engraving studio to set my drawing layout on the guns I engrave.

@@richardkramer1094 so be it; I have several other questions about his methods and will bow to your much greater expertise in these matters.

@@dooleyfussle8634 Question away, I’ll do what I can to answer them if directed at me. Every thing I do for stock fitment is done with a saw, chisels, rasps, scrapers and a pencil so that it fits the client exactly to their needs, rifle or shotgun.

I did see him spraying finish on I'm just finishing making my first gun stock on a old single shot shot gun I'm doing a natural pure Tung oil finish but the three weeks between coats is killing me.
🙋♂️🌺🤝💐🌹👍🌷💐
His reputation is unequal. However I think he could take the rough lumber and not really have to use a rasp or planer.
Тыльник к прикладу не очень четко подогнали!!
He is putting too much pressure on his rasps and files which will crush the wood fibers and affect the overall integrity of the stock. He is a little too rough for my tastes.

Well if I were removing material for shaping I wouldn't be petting the kitty either.
