You always pay for sex with women, in one way or another, it's cash when you take them on the first date, and actual years off your live when you're married to them, it is kind of sad, when you're thinking about it.

Edd Grs you sound like a really sad, insecure person who can't handle their own flaws so they forcefully project them onto the world around them. Relationships and marriage take work from all recipients involved. If one chooses to remain in a toxic relationship without trying to fix things, it sort of comes down to taking responsibility for how things ended up, and holding oneself accountable for what may have occured throughout. Your post makes you look really sad. I shed a single tear for you, sad person.

I work with current and former sex workers and this legislation has literally thrown every bit of safety and stability they have developed for themselves into question. More sex workers will have to work outside now, unable to screen clients, unable to negotiate their boundaries (such as requiring condom use, etc.) and at far higher risk of attack and arrest. Organizations like mine who serve this vulnerable population are also now being threatened with accusations of 'pandering' because we help sex workers network in order to keep each other safe. Handing out safer sex supplies on the street as we've done for years is about to become illegal if SB 1204 passes. All of this is totally insane. The worst part is these bills are being introduced by women who consider themselves 'feminists,' yet who REFUSE to listen to actual sex workers when they tell them again and again what they want. It is infuriating. Thanks Jim for being one of the ONLY media outlets to actually give a shit.

And it's not just sex workers. My job effectively ended last night when Craigslist took down its Therapeutic Services Section, without any notice. I've been a licensed massage therapist for over 12 years and have used Craigslist extensively. I'd say that, as an independent massage therapist, between 80 - 90% of my clients have come from Craigslist. I am now unemployed.

if brothels were allowed, look like strip club buildings on outside and thus ypung children wouldn't understand what is in them, then there could be a union for prostitution. customers could also see if the service they have requested has a sexual transmitted desease.. hipaa would have to be involved. but it could be a better experience all around for ppl. i personally wouldn't get involved in thw business but ppl deserve to be safe. some ppl are more heterosexual, some ppl r very stressed, depressed, anxious. all these things can lead to addictions, drugs, alcohol, and even domestic abuse. If a man or woman paying for sex from a concentual adult, ADULT, helps reduce these other factors even a little. I think it is worth it. It would even help with sexual transmitted disease. Ppl would have to be tested before getting service from a brothel. this could lead to more informed ppl about their bodies and help them talk about their disease with future life time partners. help manage the disease before it really manifests.

I agree. It seems like if there was a method for people to have legal sex - we would have less social issues and with it less sex crimes in general. How many things are really rooted in our society's antique views on sex? Would pedophilia be reduced by simply giving the potential pedophile a different, legal outlet for their sex drive? How about rape?

As George Carlin once observed selling is legal and fucking is legal. Why isn't selling fucking legal? Seriously, if we were to decriminalize the workers and help them to get a stable life it would only open the pimps and slavers to scrutiny. (Plus I don't think women would lose interest in sex, we might find it interesting if they were allowed to be more comfortable with choices.)

With decriminalization, adult sites could require photo IDs to post ads without fear of record keeping being subpoenaed which would almost eliminate underage trafficking. Eros has always done this and has had no issues with underage trafficking accusations. This is why this bill is not about finding actual solutions to end trafficking.

Althought I would prefer that sex traffiking and sex work is abolished, I believe that the most good you can make (i.e. more people saved) is to actually legalize it.

The bigger issue I have with FOSTA, and to a lesser extent SESTA is that they are completely unfocused on the problem they are meant to tackle. They don't make any specific punishment for sex traffickers because most of them aren't US citizens subject to our laws. They punish those that sex traffickers take advantage of. The Craigslists or Collar Mes or Fetlifes of the world. Really any online forum where you could have a conversation you wouldn't want a small child to listen to now has to be responsible for the behavior of every user or they need to shut down your ability to have an adult conversation. The scope of these laws is unimaginable as we literally cannot grasp how many ways it could be used to punish those that aren't human traffickers but cannot in any clear way do anything about human trafficking.

  • @michaelwolf8690

    @michaelwolf8690

+rozz2656 - That's not really what I'm talking about. SESTA and FOSTA don't in any way address human traffickers whether they are pimps or sex-tourism merchants. These laws are specifically designed to prosecute people who are not directly involved in the crime itself.

To traffic labor is about moving someone illegally across borders, not sex-slavery. What we have in these bills of conflation of sex-slavery, sex-trafficking and consensual sex between two adults. The bill does nothing to help trafficked sex-slaves because it's not meant to do that. It's an Internet censorship bill that is meant to pave the way for dismantling the Internet as we know it. FOSTA and SESTA don't do anything about sex-trafficking b/c they are not supposed to.

Theory- A bill that targets a particular group of people and could, if made law, put their lives in danger was proposed by people who call themselves "pro-life." The federal government has actually taken control and blocked all access to Backpage as of April(this includes all other classifieds that were being run for things like cars, toys, etc). This is after having them last year shut down their "Adult Services" section. This section had two major features that protected people and were never taken into account: 1)The users had to pay for their ad. 2)By consenting to post they also consented to a review by the staff for content. Content found in violation, specifically trafficking and pedophilia, would be removed with the user blocked and all fees kept. These people moved into the dating section as a result where the ads were free and the only review was done by other users. To be perfectly clear: This is an instance of the federal government telling us that they are in control of what we should and should not see online. A conflation of sex trafficking and prostitution to mean the same thing started this.

That goes for so many things though. Decriminalising drug use, but drug trafficking remains illegal, for example. If prostitution is legal, wouldn't consumers be more willing to alert to establishments that seem to not be quite right? I don't know, I don't have any data on that.

THANK YOU FOR THIS! On behalf of sex workers and sex worker activists around the world- yes, PLEASE support decriminalization for the health and safety of sex workers. Sex workers also oppose sex trafficking, just like as a happily married woman, I oppose DOMESTIC VIOLENCE- and NO one would advocate the abolition of marriage to protect women from violent husbands, would they?

Linear Tape-Open (LTO) is a magnetic tape data storage technology originally developed in the late 1990s as an open standards alternative to the proprietary magnetic tape formats that were available at the time. Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM, and Quantum control the LTO Consortium, which directs development and manages licensing and certification of media and mechanism manufacturers. The standard form-factor of LTO technology goes by the name Ultrium, the original version of which was released in 2000 and can hold 100 GB of data in a cartridge. The eighth generation of LTO Ultrium was released in 2017 and can hold 12 TB in a cartridge of the same size.

This video's take reminds me of how nobody cares about home cooked meals anymore. And I think that's mostly because a restaurant can cook food better than and more conveniently than your mom. But as we became a restaurant culture we lost that particular heart-warming feeling. Legalizing prostitution would have a similar effect. I don't think I can stand behind a policy like that.

Drugs, Prostitution, and gamboling should be legal. Gangs would have nothing to sell. Even tho I have a small government side to me, if the government took over these industries, the Ganges couldn’t compete. They would be gone.

New Zealand decriminalised prostitution and 10 years later its been incredibly effective. Sex workers are able to report crimes and be seen as reliable witnesses, they are able to use public health systems effectively and there is more avenue to leave the sex-trade should they choose to, not to mention we now have a really low human trafficking rate. Decriminalise it, then funds currently used to combat consensual prostitution can be used to help those who are being trafficked and those at risk.

Legalize, Tax, and Regulate: The Sex Trade (18+). Sex Trafficking will go down drastically. Why shouldn't an adult be able to sell their body for profit? (Assuming no lasting harm) As long as the involved parties are tested regularly by a third party (The more often you engage in the Sex Trade, the smaller the mandated period between each test )

I always found it hilarious that people punish sex workers. I mean, it's not called "the oldest profession" without a reason. That shit won't go anywhere as long as we humans want to have sex. So yeah, better make that stuff legal and safe for the people who work in such a field (may it be on the streets or in videos).
