I lay in bed that fateful night in September '73 when the radio stopped the music to announce the news. To this day, I still have eight of his albums. I will pass them down to my grandchildren and tell them of Jim, Maury, and Ingrid and the sensational songs created. May Jim RIP. I'm 76 now and still listen to the music that was part of my young adult life. May that music live from generation to generation. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🎼🎶

You're so right sir and you have some of the best collectibles that there ever was my one of the best performers, singer-songwriters in the world as far as I'm concerned. I hope you also have time in a bottle. Which was the theme song at our 1975 junior senior prom. It was in memory to Jim Croce and it's wonderful talents and that special song it meant a lot to our high school students. And me personally. I am now 65 years old. And I've always been a music lover of course listening to the lyrics most of all. And my memory Jim Croce music will live on forever.

Bravo a Jim avrebbe fatto piacere saperlo
I was in my sophomore year of high school when Jim died. I began dating a girl who was in my class that same year. We spent the next 2 years of high school driving around and singing to the tunes of Jim. The joy we had driving down the road singing along with him on the couple of 8 track tapes of his, that I had, while holding hands as she sat right next to me in the front seat of my ‘66 Ford fairlane were no small reason for us eventually growing up and getting married. In January 2024, we celebrate 45 years of marriage. There is no doubt in my mind that the music that Jim created during his all too brief time on earth has been a catalyst to the love that me and my wife continue to share. Even now, I find myself revisiting his songs on KZread just to listen and reflect on what an impact those sweet, sweet days have meant to me. Thanks, Jim.

Thats a great story. This Man can sing
Its's the SOUND of Jim Croce's guitar. It's the gentleness of his voice, his SINCERE meaning of the words, the harmonies, the 70's scene, & memories of this time in our lives. I listen with intent, he is a storyteller & that is what makes me listen. 🎸
Man he was so special and no one put feelings into music like he did

My goodness could Maury play lead guitar! His fills elevated Jim’s masterful melodies into the stratosphere 🎸
This man is a legend. His music hits me on a very deep level that I can’t really describe… I think 70s music is the best because it was so organic.

When I was maybe 6 or 7 I asked mom mom to buy Jim's album. Mom is gone now but, I can still remember listening to it with her like it was yesterday.
He made people FEEL his experiences!
His music makes me tear up. Not overly played or produced. Even the studio albums sound just like a man and his guitar. I just absolutely love Jim’s music, style, voice, storytelling. Exquisite musician.
My dad, also named Jim, played all these LPs for me. Don't Mess Around With Jim, obviously a favorite, but as my dad said, "This music will stay with you all your life." God Bless you Jim... both of ya.
It's so haunting for me to think of all of the music he was going to write and preform - after 1973.
There's something special about his songs that just shows how unreal of a talent he had.

Wot a waste 70s the best years.
I was just in primary school when Jim hit the charts, but his music really grabbed me. Then, he was gone. He was such a gentle soul that maybe God graduated him to Angle.
I have struggled with addiction on and off for almost 20 years. The first time I heard this song I could immediately relate. My figurative New York is my ongoing battle with substance abuse. Jim had such a unique ability to capture emotions in a clear, honest, and concise way that made his music so easy to relate to. Whatever your “New York” is, just remember it’s not your home. We all struggle with something but if you’re reading this, I hope you know that your issues are not your identity. Never give up, humble yourself, ask for help, ask God to reveal himself to you and forgive you. Things can, and will get better. God bless and rest in peace Jim. Your music has helped me through some tough times.

Incredible story.
This is surely one of the best songs of Jim Croce's amazing repertoire. This live version is much better than the original which has soppy strings unnecessarily all over it. Croce remains among my top 5 musical artists of all time.
Croce was real
Gone way before his time. His music will remain timeless
My dad absolutely loved Jim Croce...I had a mom and a dad that loved music...my dad just a little more than my dad. He use to come home with records of new artists that he really liked. He loved Bob Dylan (probably his favorite). He knew Elton John, Rod Stewart and a few others were going to have big careers.
The Best ever !
Loved like a lost uncle by 10s of millions! Music died in a plane crash and went straight up to heaven ....
One of his best songs. Not only personal experience but that of many of us that find ourselves in foreign territory. The longing for home is palatable. Yet identifying new experiences to achieve is also paramount.
He's always taking me away to world of imagination
I’m thankful for the music he was able to leave us with, but I just wish there was more😥
I Love his music … he’s got a beautiful voice
I think that's my favorite song out of Jim's greatest hits album. I love this song and listened to it so many times growing up. The strings in the recorded song add a lot to it. But his voice and guitar playing is just like on the album. Beautiful.
I live right outside NYC and consider it home but still love this song.
I found his looks to be quite profound as a child. Once I finally got my first record player, I found I was not wrong. He was one of the most profound people I could ever listen to
Jims music and all music from the 70's was the best music ever. All songs had meaning to it,all told a story.I was so lucky to grow up with this great music .So.many great songs and musicians.I still listen to 60's,70's music and allways will till the day I dieGod bless all these musicians for all there great and amazing songs
Just fantastic. Beautiful..
I hear you. I'm older now and listening to the older music.
I just recently moved out of a halfway house in Anaheim, CA into a tent in Idaho. I've never felt so at peace in my life. I'm convinced the stress of living in California was giving me hypertension. I'd have spells of pain in my chest and neck with no cure but sleep. I've been living and working here in Idaho for the last month and I haven't had a single time where I felt away from home. I'm finally happy with my progress in life. I can finally lay down and relax, not worrying about the next day. I just heard this song for the first time and I'm sure you can understand how I relate to this.
i have been listening to jim croce since the day i was born in 1983 (probably); because of my mother…i am thankful
I was 12 when he died but already a huge Croce fan. His music has followed me all my days!!
Just two guys with a guitar. Nothing special. Yet it was and is and will forever be. Beautiful in it's simplicity, it speaks to the heart, like Croce always managed to do.
I keep coming back to Jim's songs and keep liking them 👍. They are so special to listen to when you relax and close your eyes. My mind then creates mini movies to the songs.
Love this song. Totally understand it. Spent time in Maine. It’s not like you’d think either. Empty faces in NYC true. Been there too. Seems like they’re all so lonely. Looking for somewhere to land. 😞

I listened to Jim’s music on headphones on my parents’ hifi all my childhood in the 1970s. Every time I hear them it is an emotional experience. I knew then that he had died a few years earlier. I will never stop grieving for him and Maury.
