We are about to see a massive wave of layoffs. I work in intralogistics in Tennessee which was booming. Small businesses especially are going under or struggling through by laying off large percentages of workforce. GM has gone in to shutdown. TN has been booming, the slowdown is here.

“The What Is In It For Me” Correct Answer = Benefits. The central theme of your message should be the benefits offered. Don't confuse benefits with features

Imagine being a puppet, a puppet that can feel emotional, mental, and physical pain. Now imagine the infinite number of ways someone might inflict pain on that puppet for it will never fight back. That puppet might become desensitized to the pain some might say, but it doesn't. It just gathers bruises and those bruises actually make it more painful for it. To have no pride or ego might be possible if you were an Outer God (Lovecraft), but not one your fragile human body.

Yea, except the fed cuts might actually 'help' with inflation, not hurt it. Think housing and all of the associated industries. Think multi-family construction projects halting due to higher rates. That will eventually feed through to higher (not lower) rents.

First-time home ownership is OVER. "Starter home" are over 400k average income is 58k. We've put in 77 bids in middle TN on first home and were outbid by cash investors EVERY TIME. Now, we're priced out due to price and mortgage rates. Wonder why Millenials and Gen Z are doom spending? Not getting married? Not starting families? Why is civil unrest growing while the wealth gap is larger than it ever has been in history? It's because this economy is not for us, it never has been since we've been around. It priced us out and left us behind before we got here. This doesn't end well for society at every socioeconomic level..

The cash offers were likely corporate. I just lived this, as a company 8 hours away attempted buying our home site unseen via algorithm within hours of posting to get it before anyone else--happily we instead gave it to a military family and frankly would have taken less money if needed! Our realtor was awesome and noted they'd already bought TWO other houses in the same neighborhood but then nickel/dimed after offer for lower price before closing. Getting our house or maybe one other would have let them set starter rental prices for the whole immediate area. I'm planning to write a LOT of letters to all levels of local, state, and fed leadership about this known issue.

Be careful the other way too jim. What if rates are 2% and a recession hits. There's not gonna be much ammo for the fed either...ie zero rates remember?

It all comes back to inflation just like the low price store CEO’s are stating. Inflation has always been the most insidious tax possible. Lower income it destroys , higher income could care less and in many cases it boosts their net worth. The federal government is in my opinion the most at fault with the absolutely run away spending and more importantly all the QE that is finally catching up. Milton Friedman my friend, economics is not as complicated as many make it out to be!! Powell needs to channel his Paul Volcker and do what is needed.
