Hell no!!! I cannot say that!! He's definitely one of the best and he proved a lot of his doubters wrong even me but with him he just does way way too much. Loved this match. Best AEW match that I've seen in awhile. Loved the little HBK teases by MJF (which in hindsight gives away the end of normal time and that he's winning in sudden death) Always a big fan of the "get DQ'd on purpose to get two pinfalls" spot. First time I saw it was in the Iron Man match at Judgement Day 2000 when Triple H hit The Rock with a chair or sledgehammer, got DQ'd then got the pin back straight away. Not sure if he got two though. I don't think I've seen it since. Great job by both men. Not sure who faces MJF next. It's probably going to be Hangman. The problem he's got is that AEW's main event level talent is pretty stale at this point. He's done Danielson and Moxley. MJF probably wouldn't want that Jericho stink on him again. It's either Hangman or Omega. Every other potential top star has been bungled by bad, inconsistent booking. Wardlow is a million miles from when he squashed MJF. An Omega feud has got potential. If rumours of Omega's contract are true, I hope they go with a Loser Leaves Town match and Omega is gone. MJF would get nuclear heat with the AEW hardcore fan base, coming out every week bragging about it. If Punk ever came back (which I doubt) MJF v Punk 3 sells itself.

I haven't paid too much attention to AEW but will admit that MJF is solid. Not to draw comparisons or say he's as legendary as ric flair in the 80s but he grabs attention in that way for me. Not a single heel wrestler is on his level right now.
I bet behind the scenes when MJF is just max these guys were proud as hell of each other. It was a great match
I watched bret vs shawn for the first time last year. I thought it was very beautiful. The athletic display and stamina shown by both men was great. It was the type of match that needed to happen to serve as a bridge between the old guard and the modern style of wrestling.
"did i lose a star, Dave?"
Nice to hear jc loving wrestling again
I think they did the DQ to get an advantage/fall back, in the Angle/Lesnar iron man match, Lesnar got dq'd for chair shots, then took 3 falls in a row

I think they do that spot in Rock-HHH too.
The lowblow two quick pin falls thing is something I wish you could do in the video games 😆

AEW will now spend $650M to put it in their junky video game.
When Jim said "I have not seen that in a previous Iron Man match" (6:11) -- I immediately thought of Kurt Angle & Brock Lesnar's Iron Man match on Smackdown for the World Title back near the end of the attitude era. Lesnar starts the match early by obliterating Kurt with a chair, immediately losing a point, and then he uses that time to take the lead while Kurt is selling the chair shot. The whole match was PPV-quality, yet it was just another Smackdown, and the World Title changed hands after that match.
Where can I go back & watch this match at?
Am I shocked two god tier workers had an amazing match? Not in the least. But this match fucking ruled
Why isn’t the new episode uploaded on spotify yet?
I was here and got tickets relatively last-minute so I was in the second deck and well away from the "marks" -- next time, I'm paying extra for marks. (The view was pretty good!) The crowd was still pretty into it, but the combination of drunk and tired in the second deck meant a lot of people trying to put themselves over and start stupid chants or get heat for themselves instead of concentrating on the match, which was pretty darn special. I looked down for a split second at my popcorn so I missed the nut shot and didn't know what was up with the consecutive falls until I saw it on twitter. I will say the heat the drink-throwing spot got was INSANE.
I have been a wrestling fan since the early 80's and I am 45 now. I was excited when AEW started up it took me a week to realize I could watch this show on KZread in about 13min and be fine with it!. I like old school wrestling and MJF is where it's at and you can hear it in cornett's voice I haven't heard him this excited since Slow Devin didn't wear his prescription based helmet (he should wear at all times) ..Cornette is the only reason I kept up to date over the past few years. Thank you Jim Cornette for keeping fans involved even when they try to check out. Btw AEW dark evolution is a much better show every week then anything televised.. idiots for life. MJF 4LIFE :)

Why is dark better? (Genuinely curious.)

Have fun with that 🤣. I'm 40 and been a fan since the 80s and as good as this match was. AEW anit it
Match was good - but we’re still talking bout Bret and Shawn all these years later … Let’s wait and see how the match holds up over the years
MJF's promos reminds me of Larry Zbyszko!
They actually had a really good explanation for went Danielson tapped, there's a little promo he did post show
The pacing of this match was phenomenal. It was WWE style and staggered with out being boring. It has to be one of the best “wrestling” matches I’ve ever seen.
My favorite thing about this match was the post match. Mjf sold the heck outta this match, that at the end he's in crutches looking like he just survived the craziest accident of his life. What happened to selling at the end of matches like this. It was so good to see.
How come nobody has said anything about Travis‘ artwork on this one? Great work Travis!
This is one of my all time favorite matches in 25 years of watching. Maybe it's recency bias, but Danielson's been my GOAT for a LONG time and he keeps cementing that legacy, meanwhile I didn't even know who MJF was a couple years ago [I was in a lapsed state as I'm sure many can relate] and this kid is on his way to be an time great already, and he's not even 30 y/o yet! MJF really is everything he says he is, we're witnessing something special with this guy. And ofc Danielson delivered yet another classic in a career chock-full of em.
Long Island Kid too, Crazy.
yep. I bought the PPV just to watch this match and loved it
They did something similar in Brock and Kurt's iron man match where Brock sacrificed a fall by beating Kurt with a chair and taking advantage. Simple but effective. Lose the battle, win the war
I still think that Brock vs angle at smackdown in 2003 is my fav iron match of all time and is very underrated imo. This is a close 2nd though.
Very strong ppv with lots of good matches, but this was the best match
i only just realised, MJF constantly drinking throughout this match was because Ric Flair said in his final match he blew up cos he was dehydrated
Saw this in the the movie theaters I was surprised Regal was showing it.
This review is going to be good. Let get get a bottle of water to get ready.
It's amazing how many people keep confusing the LaBell Lock for the Regal Stretch
This was a very good match. Better psychology than anything else going right now. kind of dragged slightly around the 40 minute mark but it made sense because, unlike Moxley who forgets which pat of his body he should be selling during matches, these guys were selling their respective injuries. this is somewhere between 8.5 and 9.5 out of ten. I would have just left it at a draw and worked for a rematch as the ending was uncalled for.
I really enjoyed the match but I loved the press scrum
I'm a 90s baby. Meaning people like me seen ALOT of MAIN EVENTS. That was one of the greatest Ironman matches EVER 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The match flew by, honestly
Jim and Brian should do a watchalong for Lesnar vs Angle Iron Man match
This was by far the best thing on the whole show and that's not to say that the other matches were bad because they were all at least solid, but this match was what everyone came and paid to see and they delivered in spades. It admittedly didn't need to be an Iron Man match in the first place, but I'm definitely glad it was one because MJF once again proved that he can more than hold his own against some of the best wrestlers in the world and it really showed the amount of endurance he has. The build to the match was questionable in parts, but this whole thing more than made up for it and it's already one of the best matches in company history along with Danielson's match with Kenny Omega, the Page/Omega vs Young Bucks match, MJF's match with Darby Allin and Cody vs Dustin Rhodes
Even from a purely WWE perspective, Chris Benoit's ironman matches were better than Bret Hart-Shawn Michaels...but as you know nobody really brings up Benoit to talk about how good his wrestling matches were anymore.
I'm glad they didn't shit on this match...cuz this match was really good. Put it in a vacuum and for what it was "as a match"...holy shit it was GOOD!
