When Taker finally rides off into the sunset, it will truly represent the end of not only the Undertaker character but the end of the last star to truly be bred in the territory system.

The stuff with Kane early on, as hokey as maybe it may have seemed in a realistic way, couldn't have been pulled off as well with anyone else. Like when he first came back after the 98 Rumble to confront him and officially agree to fight him at WrestleMania after swearing he never would.....if anybody else had that spot....I doubt it'd have worked the same way, with the same emotion and crowd reaction. Only he coulda gotten the moment that they did out of it. It's one of the best ever to this day, and he's the major reason why.

I love Jim, but I think he's so full of nostalgia, he doesn't see that since the 2000s, the product has been changing. For fuck's sake, since the beginning, wrestling has changed at least 4 times in what it used to be. It literally was nothing but an act in circuses. No one took them seriously, but they were entertained. It evolved into serious characters, where you took the characters seriously. Then it went back to its hokey roots, having people like Hogan, Savage, Ultimate Warrior. Then it progressed again, thanks to the steroids scandal. Where it took a mix of both things, the hokey and showy stuff, with down-to-earth wrestlers from the likes of the Hart Foundation. Now it's evolved again in the past now that styles are clashing in the world. You're getting the best types of action from around the world. From the Japanese Strong Style, to the Luchador style. Joey Ryan's penis wrestling is funny as fuck, because it's a fantasy EVERY MAN EXCEPT JIM and his ilk has thought about. As a guy, you look at your dick and you're like "I wonder what the fuck I can do with this thing except JO and have sex?" and Joey was like "I can flip people with my penis." So while there's more and more down-to-earth wrestling, there's still gimmicks, there's still storylines. Just because something is stupid to him, doesn't mean it's not well loved and is mocking the business. If anything, it's evolving the goofy and entertaining aspect of the wrestling past and honoring it. He's *entertaining* people. He doesn't do this stuff to appease critics or Cornette. He does it to make the fans of wrestling happy and laugh.

Cobedizzle Of course live television needs to be scripted. But there’s a big difference in giving someone bullet points of what they want the direction to be and handing someone a complete word for word script of what to say. It takes all the human element of emotion out of it and is why wrestling promos today are flat and boring. Give someone bullet points of topics you want to hit on specifically and let them phrase the wording and put it together themselves, so it sounds natural and believable coming out of their mouth.

One of the first matches I saw him in was against Kamala. So this feud was my ticket into the strange world of professional wrestling. I was hooked by the gimmick. The HHH Hell in a Cell match should've been it. It was the end of a four year story with Shawn and Hunter. They all embraced eachother at the end. And he didn't lose! His legacy will never be tarnished per say but he's for sure hasn't done it any favours with some of his later matches. At Hell in a Cell he could still go and a high level. But I guess he's made about ten million dollars since then so good for him.

Now Vince might have already planned on doing it. But if there was anyone on the roster who could make Vince do something he would rather not. I would think that's the guy. In fact I can't see anyone else even trying to tell him what to do.

It's pretty much confirmed. Dave Meltzer talked about it, Dark Side of the Ring brought it up. So the story goes Mark first ask...asked mind, no "taped fists" or anything, Michaels and took him at his word on not knowing. So he pounded on Vince's office door and bellowed, "If you don't open up this door and get your ass out here I'm gonna knock it down and kick it!" Vince did answer and Mark told him, "If you still want to have a company tomorrow you'd better apologize to Brett Hart. I'm quitting if you don't." There's toi many sources sharing this to not be real.

And that match where he jumped on the camera man and the camera man missed him and he landed on his head is what many believe to be the best match of all time at Wrestle Mania. Wrestle Mania 25 was my favorite too. He went another 20 minutes after that horrible bump. The camera man was the son of Jimmy the Superfly. And he was supposed to catch him but it went wrong. Then the 10 count and you can tell it was hard to get back in the ring. But he did and continued the match. And that elimination chamber in 2010 when Undertaker got burned was hard to watch. I was there live and it was scary. Most who watched on TV missed it. Because you could not see it. But live you did. And the pouring water on himself. 2 times Undertaker got burned with pyro. It happened in 1998 too. Undertaker was at the ring post doing his entrance. Kane's pyro went off and nearly burned the Undertaker. I think it was the July 6 1998 Raw or the July 13 1998 Raw. What was strange is Shawn Michaels was under the ring at elimination chamber to cost the Undertaker the match. In 1998 Shawn Michaels just returned to the Announce table after leaving after Wrestle Mania 14. Just strange Shawn Michaels was there both times. He even let Chris Jericho put him into the walls of Jericho at the end of the Elimination chamber. That had to hurt. Most people who watched by video just thought he rushed to the ring. Because that is what the commentators said. He was was waisting no time tonight. But actually he was burned. Chris Jericho said you can smell the burns on him. One of my favorite Jim Cornette videos.

To be honest I don’t think it’s so much that Jim is being hypocritical, as it is just immense respect for Mark Callaway that prevents him from really ripping it. If you notice at the earlier portions of the video he mentions “shooting lightning at the heels”, there’s an audible sigh and that trademark silence before the rant. But instead he moves onto Mark’s work ethic. Meanwhile, at another point he mentions that Taker’s early gimmick was of a movie monster. His tone here seems to indicate that he is not fond of the hokey dead mortician Vince McMahon concocted, as he followed by saying “When he was given the opportunity to showcase more of what he could do.” And readjusting his evaluation to - again - Callaways skill and work etiquette.
