    I couldn't help but spot the blatant hypocrisy in Cornette flaming NXT for the Bron Breaker name even though he renamed Johhny K-9 "Bruiser Bedlam". I'm like, "how is 'Bruiser Bedlam' not a questionable name for someone to be stuck with?".

  • @AWX_Wrestling

    @AWX_Wrestling

    2 жыл бұрын

    Johnny K-9, while a great sounding name, was his name while he was working in the WWF as a jobber. The last thing Cornette would have wanted was for his fanbase to associate his new top heel with his days as a WWF enhancement talent. So a name change was necessary. Quite frankly Bruiser Bedlam isn't a bad name especially in a wrestling territory. Had WWF or WCW taken notice of him and signed him to a contract I can easily see them incorporating both names and calling him "The Bruiser" Johnny Bedlam. Bron Breakker is a terrible name being used on national television. Not only that, it's also a name that is plain to everyone watching that he won't be using when he goes to the main roster. He wrestles in a classic Steiner Bros singlet, his entrance music is very similar to Scott Steiner's Big Poppa Pump theme. He even sounds like Scott on the mic. Even the play by play announcers are dropping hints. It's obvious that they are grooming him to be Big Poppa Pump 2.0. I can easily see him making his main roster debut as Big Pappa Pump Bron Steiner wearing shades and and chainmail head gear.

    Al Snow did TV for the WWA around 1987-88 out of Windsor, Ontario. This was for the former "Bruiser Bedlam" territory, which made a brief comeback out of Toledo and Detroit. It was under the leadership of Dr. Jerry Graham Jr. and Chris Carter. Ox Baker did color for these tapings. Snow teamed with Mickey Doyle as the Motor City Hitmen. Others on the taping included Sweet Daddy Malcolm Monroe, the Golden Lion, Kurt Von Schneider, Rowdy Roger Ruffan, El Bracero, Great Wojo, Denny Kass, Muhammad Saad, Calypso Jim etc.. This territory later brought in Tommy Rich.

    The double standard and hypocrisy is interesting. With Snuka it's "He killed her! There's no doubt he did it" With K9: "Such a nice guy would never ever do that, even though he was in a criminal motorcycle club" Considering he later got arrested for conspiracy to murder several people, i don't doubt that he was rightfully charge for the 2 murders prior to that.

    Putting people in arena seats and making people want to see them on TV matters a whole lot more in the business than who was a better worker, who was more athletic, or who was the best technician. Dennis Hopper may have been a better actor than Tom Cruise, but most people didn't go to theaters to see a Dennis Hopper movie.
