Michaels didnt need backstage politics, he was either blowing the boss or allowing the boss to blow him. Literally. (my moneys on the latter)..there were a lot more guys with more talent and drawing power who didnt get away with what he did. He was a glorified trophy wife. Thats why one of the smallest guys in the locker room (and who couldnt win a real fight against a healthy 6 year old girl) and the biggest pr-ck in the business, got away without a daily beating. I know, I know, its an unpopular opinion..and I'll prob be stalked now by some (prob scottish) homosexual kid looking for attention.

While Shawn's actions there were horribly unprofessional, that was possibly the most hilarious match I ever saw. I was crying I was laughing so hard. It went so far into the bad match category that it rolled around into being a classic, if only for being so hilariously terrible. Both of them deserved what they got. Hogan got a match that managed to make him look worse than usual (for someone who routinely got "Worst Match of the Year" awards, it's impressive); and Shawn had Hulk Hogan's creative control clause run wild over him, brother!

From my perspective he was under-card at best, and seriously what a fucking whiny bitch, "My mommy says I lost my smile", "my knee hurts" and yeah considering Soma is a heavy muscle relaxant it's hard to keep a smile going. He had talent, too bad he rarely used it. It was clear whenever he got to the ring he was more worried about how his hair looked and if his tights accentuated his ass, over putting on a good show. Brett and him had some classics, but imagine what they could have done if he wasn't such a fucking bitch. God bless him though. It isn't about "haters" (and thanks I haven't heard the phrase haters since I saw my 12 year old niece last, It warmed my heart.) How can you respect someone as unprofessional, backstabbing and self serving as Shawn Michael's. Never seeing the big picture, and no where near the understanding of Ring Psychology as Hart, Piper, Rude, Razor, Dusty Rhodes, Undertaker, all the greats will always overshadow his career because he was not memorable; fuck he was in kindergarten while Hart was doing research in University in comparison, that was true of all the greats on the roster in comparison. He had the potential to be a groundbreaking innovator, in his early career. As a tag team, I didn't like them but he showed a lot of talent back then but nothing innovated just imitated a style that wasn't common to the WWF. The one thing that proves how selfish and self centered this turd is he becomes born again it his "twilight years". Getting to an age where even though he probably didn't do roids throughout his career there was plenty drinking, pills (death with alcohol guaranteed early) the other assorted drugs, the women, the men, the animals, he knows it's possible he may die younger, but maybe not, so he is washing away his sin, asking Gods forgiveness for himself. That's all he cares about, not feeling empathy for others he hurt, but he's lost his inner smile awwwwwwwwwwwwww

Here's what happened. HBK and Hogan were supposed to have a best of 3 series from August to October of 2005. HBK wanted it to be face vs face and may the best man win. Hogan bitched to Vince that it should be classic face vs heel and forced Shawn into turning heel. Shawn didnt want to bit did anyway. Vince also planned on Hogan winning the first, Shawn the second and Hogan the third. Then during the buildup to Match 1 at Summerslam, Hogan mysteriously comes down with a bad knee despite not getting in the ring. This means its no longer a best of 3 and Summerslam is going to be their only shot. As much of a pain in the ass HBK is, he got pidgeonholed into turning heel and this lucrative series was now going to be a one and done where he does the job. Shawn knew he couldn't back out of the situation with a fake injury of his own or losing his smile, so he did the one thing he could, tank the fucking match. Hogan got his way and Shawn made him pay for it. What should have been an alltime feud was a one shot abortion due to ego and age.

the promo HBK had in Montreal before this match "WHO'S YOUR DADDY MONTREAL?!!?" was legendary, HBK was not only the best worker in WWE in 2005 he was a mega heel because of the Screwjob and made Hogan look like a big babyface (despite not being able to go in the ring anymore). Even in the match he put Hogan over, yes some say in a overexaggerated way, but at the end of the day that promo in Montreal HBK promised Hogan 'a match he and the WWE fans would never forget' and it was 100 percent.

Everyone saying there was supposed to be a best of 3 series is WRONG. There was only ever ONE Hogan vs. Michaels match originally scheduled to take place. Hogan wouldn't have agreed to return to the ring if he was going to lose because it would have made him look like he was a has-been rather than a legend who “still has it”. Michaels was warned by his peers that he would have to do things Hogan's way but the arrogant HBK believed he could out-politic The Hulkster (a man who could pull strings & make moves like no other wrestler, past or present) behind the scenes. When Michaels finally realized - after weeks of trying - that he couldn't, then & only then, did Michaels propose a second match. Contrary to reports at the time that state he wanted to win the rematch, Hogan straight up ADMITTED during an interview (WrestleCast) he expected to return the favour for HBK but shut the feud down upon seeing a resentful & seething Michaels sarcastically mock him the next night on RAW after SummerSlam because it wasn't a serious interview & perhaps he let his personal feelings get too much involved. Michaels got upset because Hogan beat him at his own game - he was frustrated with his inability to out-negotiate Hogan behind the scenes. Michaels was never supposed to be anything other then Hogan's job boy bitch but his ego wouldn't allow it. When the politics didn't work (Michaels didn't have the leverage or the persuasive power he thought he did) he accepted his fate & then cried to McMahon to let him cut a promo sarcastically mocking Hogan proving while he's a changed man in many ways, he's still at his core the same person he's always been.

@@GorditoCrunch343 if you watched the HBK/Austin KOTR match in mid 97 you'd clearly see that HBK was still the most popular/over guy in the WWE at that time (Bruce Prichard states this as well in his podcast) until he screwed The Undertaker at Summerslam in August. When HBK turned heel and formed DX, The Undertaker had become the new top face since he was 2nd most popular behind HBK in 97. Austin didn't start becoming really popular until the end of 97 in his mid card feud with The Rock. Then in 98, Austin finally became the top face after winning the belt at WM14.

Yes Hogan was known to not want to job for people. But at the same time, he would gladly do it if it made sense and if there was an ongoing story line after the fact.

To all the salty teared yahoos in the comment section. The now well established time line for this is. Hogan and Michaels are booked for 3 matches. Michaels is forced into a heel turn by Hogan and Vince that he despises but does what is best for business. Then after the angle begins and HBK is in the middle of the turn Hogan reveals that he has knee and back pain and will only wrestle one match. Then he pulls his CC card and says he's going over. Vince agrees and HBK gets punked. As revenge he oversold Hogan's offense like an Ocotopus in a Washing Machine. The whole thing was Vince and Hogan's fault. It left HBK with alot of Egg on his face and was over all bad for business. More so because it came out that Hogan KNEW he could only do one match but faked like he would or could do multiple matches. So for everyone who just hates HBK fine. However facts are what they are. You may not like it but in my view Hogan was wrong. Not saying he has to do the favors. Maybe have a Dusty Finish or let HBK get DQ'd by beating his knee or back and then have Hogan have to "retire" because of it.

To be fair to Shawn (no matter what he did in the past) it was one thing after another with the fucking, first its Hogan forcing Shawn to turn heel, Shawn didn't want to, Vince okayed a face v face whose better type program between the two, then Hogan's okaying all the promos Shawn is doing about him, tell him to his face it's good, and going to Vince after and cutting his nuts off about it, and then it's a last minute changing the 3 match program to one match to one match, and on top of it all makes it so he goes over, even though he's going away Shawn's going to stay for years more. Shawn shouldn't have done what he did, but its not like he made Hogan look bad because he didnt like Hulk.
