It doesn't matter if it;s a sport. White tail deer have no natural predators in most areas and are very adaptable, so they overpopulate. Shooting them during the season is an effective way to keep their numbers down, and it provides much healthier meat than the farm raised variety.

AR-15's are fine for home defense. Do you think a shotgun is a good home defense weapon? Well if so you should know that the Shotgun has a shit ton more blast and recoil then an AR-15. The 5.56 is a .22 caliber bullet with a lot of propellant behind it. That's literally all it is. It's not even that powerful compared to the vast majority of other VARMINT sized centerfire calibers. It's fucking 55 grain bullet.... It's not even considered optimal for whitetail. So people that cant handle larger calibers will opt for an AR-15. Some AR-15's only have an 11 round capacity, others have a 51 round capacity. It all just depends. People who dont know shit about firearms hear "AR-15" and go fucking stupid. The pro-gun side are also illogical for reasons I gave in my other post on the matter. They think people become Rambo when they get a gun in their hands. Both sides equally annoy me, they're both naive and the gun-owners ironically give solid arguments FOR gun control with their ridiculous belief that if you encounter someone with a gun already drawn, the person without the gun will somehow have the advantage. Instead of the reality that they gunman would shoot the person if he thinks the person might be reaching for a gun.

Here's the problem with gun control, Constitutional considerations aside. If guns were a new invention, and there were relatively few in circulation, gun control would work. By even the most conservative of estimates, there's at least 200 million guns in circulation in this country. Pass whatever law you care to, the fact that there's already 200 million out there means any new gun laws will have little to no effect on crime. Anyone who is otherwise prohibited from owning a firearm isn't really going to have a hard time obtaining a gun if they really want one.

But at 130 million they still have less gun deaths in the last 20 years than your state in the last 6 months, and you are going to pretend that there isn't a problem. Those 200 million weapons are a very new phenomenon and the vast majority of them are owned by a small percentage, but of course if groups like the NRA have their way that 200 million will keep increasing, what number will be enough? Progressive Killer Mike last week suggested that each household should have 6, which would easily double that number. Will that make you happy? Europe too was full of guns 80 years ago, 500 million people in the EU and each and everyone of them is at least three times less likely to be killed by a bullet than you despite having the same movies, music, video games, mental health issues etc, etc The Israeli army decimated suicides by stopping sidearms being brought home on leave. Australia had a mass shooting 25 years ago leading to a number of changes in gun laws and a government buy back that has lead to less gun related deaths. If guns lead to a safer society why does the US have murder rates more comprable to South Africa, Venezuela rather than Japan or Sweden?

I agree for the most part about hunting for SPORT.... but, there are people who hunt that use the meat to supplement their food supply because they are poor. If you hunt for food, and use every thing... a deer is no worse than a cow.... if you kill just to kill for the rack of antlers.... that is WRONG. I am from Arkansas, but I live in Germany now.... we have extremely strict gun control here.... you have to pass a LOT of classes to get a gun.... and you have to renew every year.... and it's only for certain kinds of guns.... NO automatic or semi automatics are allowed.... and not every cop wears a gun... and that makes the much less intimidating.
