Thanks DiggityDave3000. I was only using Cornette's Midnights as an example. I knew they weren't teaming at that time.

I love hearing the stories from the old territory days. Growing up outside of Boston Mass we got the WWF and WCCW on Saturday mornings and if I remember correctly the Crockett promotion or 1 of the NWA territories.

Joe Spitler what's up Joe ? I remember watching Wccw on weekdays on espn , NWA was on wtbs, then they had AWA on espn also.. I remember seeing G.L.O.W LATE NIGHTS oh yeahhh...lol. I wish we was able to the Tennessee stuff, I feel like we missed wrestling at its best.. growing up in the 80/90s was awesome.. I remember something called ICCW TOO THAT HAD the Boston Bad boy Tony RUMBLE ..LOL.. & ECW was a infomercial...lol.. getting the awa & the nwa action figures which were exactly the same as HE-MAN figures , I would get 20 or 30 minute vhs tapes of nwa & awa that turned me onto Abdullah & Brody & I remember the magazines PWI TOO good times..

Grew up in Quincy. I remember local cable showing Mid South Wrestling, Southeast Championship Wrestling (Texas) briefly, as well as Bedlam From Boston (Kowalski), ICW (Savoldi), AWA on ESPN, Global Championship Wrestling (ESPN) along with WWE/F, WCW/Georgia Championship Wrestling, World Class Wrestling. Also remember a few episodes of Deep South Wrestling (Not WWE/F training territory). I think I got them all.

This group was headed up by 12 core wrestlers out of Tennessee headed by Bill Dundee. It ended when The Fantastics smashed a cake into Jim's face, which Ole didn't like. Jim's career really took off after that as he became the manager of The Midnight Express and Tommy Rogers, after a stint in Atlanta, teamed up with Bobby Fulton to put The Fantastics over.

Superstation WTBS (now just TBS), used to have a Sunday Best of...World Championship Wrestling show, that had clips from the previous Saturday WCW shows, as well as stuff from other territories, like the AWA, Mid-South, Mid-Atlantic, Florida, and Memphis. When they had the GCW Superstars thing going, they showed clips and matches on that Sunday show. I knew some of the crew from the Apter magazines, including Cornette; but, this was my first chance to see Cornette and Bill Dundee, as well as first seeing Terry Taylor and Bobby Fulton. I grew up with the WWA, in Indianapolis and the Poffo ICW and GCW Superstars was still better than most of what I saw of the WWA (after its heyday of Bobby Heenan being the star heel manager), and a good deal of the Poffos (ICW had some good stuff; but, didn't have a lot of strong angles).

When I was in the oil industry, we had a joke that no one has written a workover procedure in 100 years, everyone is just copying what the last asshole did. There have been something like 6 original ideas in wrestling history; the rest were allxstolen from TV, movies, or earlier wrestling (which were probably themselves stolen). So it was a copy... most stuff is. It was a bad copy... most copies are.
