Yeah, I used my Network trial to watch as many Takeovers as I could since I'd heard such good things about them. The first time I saw Charlotte in those old Takeovers it struck me how much she looks like her dad. She looked great, and still does, but I was shocked when I was flipping thru channels one night and saw her on TV within the past year or so. That's not to say she looks like frankenwoman, there wasn't a thing wrong with her appearance last I saw, she just didn't look NEARLY as much like Ric's daughter. I'm surprised that Jim seems to have never noticed it, then again I guess he hasn't seen a ton of old NXT stuff. Of course it could be just a minor procedure + changing the way she does her makeup, together that can make someone look completely different too. If the difference is even more drastic now, disregard, I wouldn't know.

You guys are stoned. The lines of her face haven't changed one bit. Maybe her nose? Maybe? But I really don't see it... She can look drastically different from day to day just given her makeup, hair, and how much fat vs muscle she has at the moment. I think a lot of what you guys are seeing is really more just her weight ratio. For an extreme example, look at Bull Nakano's face (and her entire body for that matter) before and after she was wrestling.

Jim goes from saying Dana Brooke looks like she had her face reconstructed with a fire axe to suddenly defending women against plastic surgery criticism.

Jim’s friendship with Ric has clearly influenced his comments here, if you look at a picture from her NXT days Charlotte looks like a different person. I agree that it’s unfair to speculate on her motivations but the physical changes are so obvious they can’t be ignored. I also don’t think you can ignore that people make a huge fuss when men like Jinder Mahal come back looking very different after clearly taking steroids and getting huge.

Yeah the motivations is the only part where Dave was off base here. You can argue a lot of his writing is terrible or wrong or whatever but clearly Charlotte had lots of work done. So did her dad I remember him using rhinoplasty photos for an angle after Wargames when he got the cage door slammed on his face

I feel like Dave tried to merge two thoughts into one - first by saying Charlotte was real touchy about her looks, then saying it’s a subconscious (really it would be ‘unconscious’ nowadays) fixation she isn’t fully cognizant of (which seems absolutely right, that’s how plastic surgery disasters happen) - his weird hyperactivity made both thoughts into gobbledygook though and the end result was goofy - oh well, Charlotte’s still fucking up her face and Jim is still a hypocrite here - this is a heel program. There is no babyface to be found.

She looks completely different in her facial features. Last time I saw her on television I didn't even recognize her.

I have read several articles on this situation, and upon actually hearing Uncle Dave's comments, I don't see anything wrong with them. He didn't word it particularly well, but he was not commenting on Charlotte's appearance. He was commenting on the fact that women in professional wrestling, in general, were judged by their looks. This isn't a Dave vs Women issue. Dave also mentions if a male wrestler looks good or looks out of shape as well. As do most of us. It's a profession based on vanity. When you put the tights on and step in the ring in for millions of people, you have to expect this kind of stuff.

Saw my first Orange Cassidy match today since I introduced myself to Danhausen's channel and it came up in my YT recommendations. I don't get it. Oh I get the comedy, but I don't get why AEW gives this guy any push.

The best time whenever they were using him sparingly in not so serious matches. Even his match against Pac was a delight, but then they thought we got to push this comedic character into a feud with Chris Jericho. That’s when I started losing interest in the character because they overexposed him, made him appear far too regularly, and ruined whatever humor there was with the character. They even had OC challenge for the TNT title 3 times in the span of a month whenever Brody Lee was still alive (May he Rest In Peace). He challenged Brody then Cody Rhodes, twice.

Why is anybody surprised he would insult Ric Flair’s daughter? He has turned his back on so many of his friends and hitched his wagon to King Tony Koopa and his Koopalings. I’m not a modern WWE fan by any means but the amount of garbage he slings toward that roster on his show yet allows AEW to get away with should be proof he is being paid off. Rumor has it the WWE roster hates his guts so bad that he has no sources anymore outside of a couple upper management stooges. Even his New Japan sources dried up once Kenny and the Bucks left plus Harold Meji was fired. If you thought what he said about Charlotte or Peyton Royce was bad, go back to the old Observers in the 80’s and see what he said about Misty Blue Simms or Sable in the 90’s.

What am I missing? Dave said the company put this pressure on her and all women and made them subconscious and uncomfortable, a phenomena that has been going in the biz for decades. Uh she already did all of the following: major dental work (smile is completely changed), mole removal, lip work, & multiple breast implant redos...that's at least 5 cosmetic procedures at minimum that have been done (ones that are so obvious that we are certain of them). Is it that odd that people that cover wrestling would comment on something that you'd have to be blind not to notice? Most people who see themselves on TV or film go down that road, it gives them justification to do it. But don’t get upset when people comment on the obvious...it’s almost like her getting upset if someone said she was tall at this point...equally observably obvious.

I'm not gonna comment on Dave meltzer comment, but I will say it seems like Charlotte flair is having a mid life crisis.

I'm not trying to defend Meltzer here, but any time anyone gets any type of plastic surgery that person is clearly self conscious about their looks. Anyone can Google a pic of Charlotte from when she was in NXT & Google a pic of Charlotte now & anyone can tell she's had work done to her face. Same thing with Carmella & Dana Brooke & others. Regardless of if Meltzer's comments are insulting or not, he didnt say anything wrong.
