I remember being homesick as a Private Second Class in South Korea in 2004. I called my mom crying from a payphone and she sang this song to me to cheer me up. 17 years 3 deployments to Afghanistan and 6 duty stations later in 2020.....I'm still living my life like it's GOLDEN. OMG. Tell me about it. 17 years ago, first time Mom to a newborn. No one to help me. Silly me chose wrong one to get me pregnant. Everytime I felt overwhelmed or like I was gonna lose it, this song would pop on the radio and ease my spirit. I would feel like I could make it another day. Now I have a smart mouth 17 year old whose taller than me. I'm not necessarily a Jill Scott fan, but I definitely owe her one. My mom and I went shopping Christmas week of Target back in 2004, and I'll never forget when this song came boomin' on KIIS-FM my moms delightfully cranked up the speakers and went, "Oh hell yea, this song is so good!" First time we both heard of Jill Scott, and one of the main reasons my bro & I tricked mom into going to Target again before the holiday wrapped up only to gift her with the "Golden" CD. @@kotutuchimuka778 Hi! The first time I was about to drive onto a large boulevard I pulled over because I started to panic. My partner was with me, helped me calm down and provided support. I knew in that moment that I needed to make the choice to face my fears, and kept driving once I was calm. Several years have passed and I still have some anxiety with driving (some bad days here and there, some scary moments in unfamiliar territory) and don't yet feel comfortable on highways, but it still feels like an accomplishment. I approached my fear of flying the same way - I've accepted the physical reactions, yet I mentally take the step forward. I may never be completely calm and confident, but I reassure myself as best as I can.
