So down to earth & personable. And gracious. Our First Lady is a breath of fresh air.

My advice to younger women is. 1. Disney Princess movies are fictional and there's no Princes to marry and provide for you. 2. Have two bank accounts one is personal and the other is joint. This is the age where joint incomes are necessary. 3. Seek relationships that are equal and women are not property of husbands. 4. Work is key to financial independence.

I disagree you need two incomes in sense of two people. But, maybe income from two streams of revenue. I am divorced and have no desire to ever be dependent on another person, which means I need my own money. I don't want to remarry. But, if I did, I would never co-mingle money in any accounts or credit cards. Having been married to a fiscally irresponsible man, I learned that marriage actually put me at risk for fiscal harm, among other types of harm, so I agree with you about separate accounts, but I don't want to be legally tied to another person.

Women *please research laws* before you move somewhere. I made the mistake of letting my now ex husband talk me into moving from Colorado to Texas so that I could get ‘help’ from his family with my son so I could go back to work. Long story short, it didn’t end well, and the custody laws are horrible. My son with health issues is paying the price. His father isn’t required to visit him regularly and his father skips months at a time and breaks plans last-minute and with all the counseling it’s still a struggle for my little son to deal with. But then if my son is upset and breaking out with hives over having to see his father who’s like a stranger, he doesn’t have a choice. In fact, if he doesn’t visit his father, I could lose custody and go to jail. There’s also a cap on child support that won’t even cover the average rent for a 3-bedroom apartment there. It also took several months for Texas OAG to get any payments to me. Luckily I’m educated and had a career before being forced out of work for years to care for a special needs child without any support, and I don’t rely on that money to survive, or we’d have been homeless for a while. Hopefully the right for women to work and go to school isn’t lost in Texas as well with Republicans trying to privatize public education etc. They do make it very difficult for women with children already, as reliable and affordable childcare is non-existent there.

I thought I knew my husband well. We met five years before I became pregnant and we married. I thought I was quite mature for my age, but in hindsight, I was pretty naive and failed to recognise he did not love me as I did him. I felt sure I could trust him, but I wrote elsewhere about being blindsided when he deserted me and our two young sons seven years later. No matter how secure a marriage appears to be, it's very foolish to not be financially independent. Especially so, with children involved.

I don't want my healthcare decided on a federal level. If that's the case, your reproductive healthcare laws change rapidly based on who is in office. @@imrael496 Books, speaking engagements, Jill's teaching salary in addition to Joe's salary as a senator, VP & President. They bring in $5-600K a year. When you've been doing that since the 1970's you tend to accrue wealth. The Biden's tax returns for the last 12 years are public. You can see them online. They are worth about $8 million, far less than many senators that haven't served half as long.

When your little sister gets your mother to get you to sign something, sign it? And then the judge says, well that's just the way we do things here? And you say, so 'the law' says to leave people with nothing? All day long here in the heart of the sole star state. Like I said, it is a lawless frontier state. Why do the US people think this goes on?

Mika occasionally seems to try a little too hard with the First Lady, overwhelming her at times, but Mika does get to the issues.
