There is a few hidden gems on that album. Jigsaw, factory girl, prodigal son, salt of the earth. Maybe not overlooked by fans but I never hear them on the radio. Jigsaw is one of my favorite stones songs of any album. Thanks for the video great work as always JJ

This was the first stones song that got me listening to them. In fact, beggars banquet was really the album that got me hooked. The atmosphere on that album is really something.

One of my favorites too. Jagger seldom gets enough credit for his lyrics. An early example

Keith must have been tired on this one. No open tuning, no missing strings, fairly easy. Ok, I'm in!!

no not really other than one he played slide guitar it wasn't up until just after Let it bleed when he really discovered ripping off the low E string and open G tuning for the most part... if you watch JJ's lessons you'll notice I Let It bleed shocks for the most part Keith was using the hell out of a capo almost all over that whole album it was just after yeah yeahs that you would begin to see the open G on all kinds of stuff.. at least that's just my dumb truck driver observation🙃🤔🙄🚛☕

I love this song. The eerie backing vocals and flute? or mellotron? are so cool. Another favorite/great one from this time period with similar instrumentation is "Child of the Moon".

The "flute" sound you hear is Brian playing a mellotron set to flute setting, and him pushing the pitch wheel of the mellotron to get the notes to unnatural pitches to match and roll with Keith's slide, and the 'tron is drenched in echo as well. What you think are backing vocals is actually the melltron flute, just different notes.

that 20 seconds as the melotron comes in, then comes in harder as the bass drops low and jumps back up through the scale, is incredible

From what I've read about it, it would surprise me if there aren't multiple rhythm guitar tracks in a different tuning and standard and in differing voicings, as James demonstrated, on the studio recording.

James, what is your opinion on Taylor guitars? My sister has one and I like the brightness of it, but it just doesn't have the warmth of a gibson or martin..

I used to have a 415, a great guitar. I’m not such a fan of the bolt-glue hybrid thing they do with necks, though.

Hey PT being that your very experienced playing the upper end acoustic guitars like Martin and Gibson, Have you ever played any of the lower to mid range acoustics that still have solid tops, like Seagull, Alvarez, Breedlove, or even some Yamaha's? your opinion would mean a lot when choosing an acoustic in the 300$ to 600$ range, I am looking for an acoustic for my son but really don't have minimum 1000$ it would take to get him into a nice acoustic.

I always found this song to be a bit protracted. It seems like it's missing something/doesn't go anywhere. I don't know. Perhaps my standards are too high among Stones songs...
