民國初年，政局一片動盪不安，可惜有些人對此漠不關心，猶過着醉生夢死的生活。本劇集就是講述一個金粉世家的興衰史。元月十五早晨，金家的下人忙作一團，正為元宵節及七少爺的生日打點一切。七少爺金振西和男僕金福往郊外策騎，與正在捕蝶的女學生賀燕秋偶然相值，驚鴻一瞥，留下了深刻的印象。振西接受母親、姨太太及姐妹們的祝福後，與大家圍坐吃生日點心，金太太慨嘆丈夫為國事日夜在外奔勞，而三個年長的兒子卻不長進，時常流連歌台舞榭、花天酒地，偌大的家園顯得冷清清的，兒媳們噤若寒蟬，不置一詞，説話間，四小姐家慧突然從日本返抵家門，給金家帶來了一場驚喜，姐妹們興奮表示：有家慧在，振西的舞會將更熱鬧了。三嫂方美芬諂笑稱，由麗珠充當舞會的女主角是最為完美的。振西裝作不聞，全神地看着花上飛舞的一隻蝴蝶。賀家經濟拮据，賀母囑燕秋與丁媽到洪家求售名畫。洪麗珠刁蠻、跋扈，她輕蔑燕秋的身世打扮，對燕秋百般挑剔，更無知的彈劾名畫。燕秋不甘受辱，傲然的把畫收起，拂袖而去。

I watch this movie when I am in school days. This show has captivated my heart from Hong Kong show. From then on I have never miss drama from others Hong Kong movies. 👍

Watched this with the grandparents when I was a kid in 1980. Very powerful drama, the theme/moral I could recall vividly... about wealth, arrogance and elite... How the good life could ALL DISAPPEAR very fast. It's been forty years ago... don't remember much of the episodes now, but it's a nostalgic trip to watch some of this video. The series made an impact on my life...that I remember to this day. Save some money and don't think anything (especially the easy/good life) can last forever. Sum it up gracefully as ***** "sic gloria transit mundi" ***** Also great acting... difficult to see this kind of acting nowadays. I see this was uploaded just a two days ago... Ironically, I was looking for this TV series and try to reminisce... Liza Wang acted another series in this time (1980) called "千王之王", another great drama about two rich/powerful men losing everything... literally eyesight and sleight use of hands...

What if all the saved money has been used? Answer would be to earn more money. How to earn more money? There are many ways. What if another person/other people are always there to take the "way" before you get there. You would have to have a lot of saved up money that does not lose its value. 💰 but no food or other necessities?? But there is this 🖼️, that has no defined value...yet, or perhaps never will. If there is such a painting as in The Picture of Dorian Gray, it would cost a lot more than 💰💰💰💰💰... Someday Dorian Gray or the image in that painting would not have to eat. I like eating, so would never be similar to Dorian Gray or the image. It is interesting that Liza Wang character's home does not present that beloved painting, yet keeps it in storage. It is an asset, and is not suppose to depreciate.

No. I think $80 would lose its value in various ways very quickly. While the painting would never lose its value, even if it has been presented and accepted as a work of art. Nor would it lose value sitting in the storage chest and waiting. Miss Qianjin would want instead of $80 a better and more secure life. The painting would be safely displayed in a place where others can appreciate or learn to appreciate if interested.

韩玛莉D戏好到…… 这个刁蛮角色，有霸气、有锐气，有一种难以驯服，不好对付的感觉。相比刘亦菲在《金粉世家》（京华春梦改编自它）里扮的秀珠，达不到这个层次，刘亦菲只是一位刁蛮的小公主，演不出深沉的霸气横蛮。

It is not the amount, or quantity. It is how money or 🪙 is spent. There are closing to 8 billion people today, and if they all "make" money, where would you store all that money 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰..... Spending is as important as making. Knowledge, preferably gained through some experience, should be a prerequisite to become one who decides to spend or "make" a lot of money 💰💸or 🪙...whether it is an individual or a governing entity. A lot of anything can alter a lot of anything or everything. What is in 💰? Could be 🪨. A small 🪨 that can only be mined on this one special mountain would represent one international dollar unit.
