JFK's Visit to Los Alamos

On December 7, 1962, President John F. Kennedy became the first U.S. president to visit Los Alamos National Laboratory. This 11-minute film produced by the Laboratory recaps President Kennedy's "100 memorable minutes in Los Alamos." Kennedy received a briefing on Project Rover, the Laboratory's program to produce nuclear rocket engines for space travel, and gave a speech at Los Alamos High School. Other notable people featured in the film include Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Glenn Seaborg, and Los Alamos National Laboratory director Norris Bradbury.
