I was in IAF for 20 years and retd as Sgt. After my marriage in 1994 ( then Cpl), I shifted to married accomodation in Bathinda Air Base. One morning 8-10 guys came to my Qtr and wanted to have breakfast. She hardly had any knowledge of cooking. I told her to prepare khir (in Bengali khir means sweetened boiled rice -milk with almond and maze and then thickened it as desire). She cooked very fast and served all. All were very happy and enjoying the homely atmosphere being the guys of billets. Once they went back to bullet, my newly married wife asked me how to make (Bengali) khir. .... It surprised me and asked then what did you cook. She innocently replied I cooked rice and then separately boiled milk . Mixed them and served with sugar., The guys incluuding me failed to understand that it was not actually khir. Was it? I don't think all missed... It hardly possible but that guy (whom I don't know) matained silence. What are those ox 🐂 like guys whose hearts are soft like butter. Jai hind.
