this movie is a masterpiece. 9 years ago I got a really bad accident and spent 5 months in the hospital. I had to learn how to walk again and I have a handicap that will never go away. When my brother came to pick me up after I had be discharged, he told me I would have to take it slow. I looked at him, smiled and said 'Get busy living, or get busy dying'. This couch potato that had never done anything in her life has since then gone to Paris, she has gone to New York, Boston, Chicago, Toronto and ticked off 'Galaxy's edge' at Disney World off of her bucket list. I will NEVER again get busy dying.

You do realize it was written by Stephen King, right? And he hates religion? He puts all kinds of religious parallels into his novels as a FU. He’s actually only giving nods to disparage them. He’s atheist. Which means he believes in BiG Bang. Which also means he believes in magic. Because without a “power that was sentient”, that bang could never have occurred without Magic. Edit: Pete Davidson postulation. Brilliant!

Fun facts: The picture of the young man during Morgan Freeman's parole is actually Morgan's nephew. Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction and Forest Gump were all nominated the same year for the Best Picture Oscar. It may be the last time you had three great movies up at the same time.

I think The Shawshank Redemption pertains to both Red and Andy. Andy's character, reputation and dignity are redeemed when he escapes and gets revenge on the warden. Red is redeemed from his pessimistic outlook on life and finds "hope".

My thoughts on why Hadley (The Guard Captain) crippled Bogs: The warden ordered it so it would remove a problem for Andy before the Warden "offered" Andy the laundering job. The director does a great job of telling you what will happen before it happens. Andy gets a job in the laundry, and then he cleans money. Hadley is the warden's right-hand man, he does nothing that the warden doesn't order him to. He's a pure thug.

@@kh884488 Like Andy said "I was straight as an arrow on the outside, it took me coming to prison to be a crook." Prison changed Andy by testing him, forging him into something else. Same with Red, Brooks died because he didn't have Hope. Hope in a better future at least. Bogs and the sisters got what they gave out, a life of violence. This movie is 10/10 because of the motiffs layered upon each other not just in complexity but in depth and width, my two cents. Thanks for your comment.

Wow! That’s VERY JEWISH [no pun intended-pun intended] to not put it up on YT but put it up on the PPV Patreon. You two aren’t getting rid of stereotypes very well. I love making fun of y’all lightheartedly. My family [Slav, German, Irish] left Europe in the 1890’s. So if I had relatives in Germany during WW2, they weren’t friends of mine. Heck, distant cousins might have been in the SS for all i know. I can’t discard it. My family are fighters and soldiers. Lost a bunch in WW1, 2, and in Vietnam. I never served. To many horror stories growing from relatives. Not stories of valor and loss. Horror stories. One of my cousins actually was at The Mai Lai Massacre. He said he was following orders. And after hearing his retelling of the events, I believe him. But on the other hand, he had 50 years to get it right. I delved into the one and only time I talked to him, and I have questions. Unfortunately, he died. But he did do college lectures, so maybe they asked don’t of the questions I didn’t ask! But, it’s really not an interest that’s big. When I get “free” time I look up current things. I just don’t seem to have enough free time as I used too.

A tip on producing good reaction videos is that the volume of the movie, i.e., the characters speaking dialog, that needs to be louder or as loud as your voices, at a minimum. That makes for a good and watchable reaction video. If your voices are louder than the movie, that makes for a bad watching experience. Cheers!

Try not to keep guessing out loud what happens next throughout your reviews, it ruins the moment and doesn’t let other people experience it for themselves when they haven’t guessed it yet.

Yeah. Roman concrete is better than American concrete. American concrete breaks down quickly. That's why Israel still has Roman ruins and the United States has bridges falling apart.
