Ilona White Thank you for the compliment on my work. I am using Shinhan Water Color, korean water color, nothing special. For white and black color, I am using Winsor & Newton's gouache.

amazing effect of pearls and diamond setting. Would love to apply your technique on my recent portrait of my granddaughter. This is really God sent link I found today. I was really looking for what type of jewelry would suit on the portrait that I am working on. In the original photo she has a dull pistacio colored T shirt and I changed that into exquisite blue dress. so had to add matching jewelry for it. And I may have to work with imagination. Your work is AMAZING! But I, for the first time, looked into this type of art. What did you study to be able to learn this? Or is it something you just do because you know how to draw?

what did you use to draw the white area of the yellow gems? seems it's not water soluble as it doesn't blend when you cover the yellow on top of it

I used Winsor and Newton watercolor. It is water soluble, but I make sure it is completely dry before applying color on top of it, also it has to be quick when applying colors on it.

How do you know where to put the facets? Do specific cuts have a particular facet shape or can it be random?

I memorized facet shapes for many general shapes like oval, round, heart, marquise, pear, trillion, princess... It can be also random for some fancy shapes.

I use Prisma color pencil. I also use Faber & castel, but I prefer the Prisma.
