I remember looking on Christies website when her collection came up for auction she was definitely a fashion icon and chic...i loved the famous photo of her in the bathtub wearing the poltmore tiara

I had never seen the Poltimore Tiara as the necklace. I just love tiaras that turn into other stuff. It’s unfortunate some of the brooches had to be auctioned off, but I adore Lady Chatto, and she does wear her mothers pearl and diamond earrings on formal occasions.

One of the most spoiled women ever.

To the poster who asked why were her jewels sold off? Inheritance tax in the UK is like 40%. Could you imagine paying 40% of the value of these items? Her children didn't have that kind of money laying around. They had to work for a living. But on another note, it has been said that QE II bought some of her sister's pieces to keep them in the family.

Why did her family sell her jewelry? I wouldn’t have done it.

Why princess Margaret was not given the duchess title instead she was given only the title countess?

She became a countess on her marriage to Anthony Armstrong- Jones. He was given the title of Earl of Snowden on his marriage to Princess Margaret. This meant that the oldest son of the marriage would inherit the earldom on the death of the father. Princess Margaret’s title died with her as titles were only passed on to eldest living male issue of the marriage.

Why didnt her children inherit her jewelry collection? Kind of sad.

They did inherit them. The children sold some of the jewels to pay death duties. Also, neither child lives a royal life and so the opportunities to wear such jewels would be extremely limited.
