JetZero Receives $235 Million to Develop Blended Wing Body Aircraft

The US Air Force has announced a $235 million investment in aerospace startup JetZero to develop a demonstrator of a blended wing body aircraft.
The aim of this project is to create a more efficient and long range aircraft for military use specifically for tankers and cargo planes. There is also potential for the design to be adapted for commercial airline use in the future.

It would look better to shroud the engines into the fuselage similar to the B2 with thrust vector controls for better stability. The concept looks great but when the aircraft turns to bank the center of gravity shifts within the cargo hold and may cause instability. Thus the need for thrust vector controls and ruddervators.

Lol, they strap cargo down 😂 Ever see shopping cargo containers for UPS/DHL/Fedex? If fuel, there will be baffles.

If the engine noise is much quieter that would be great!!!

Probably a good idea for lift, but limited by aerodynamics and velocity issues. Obviously.

far less drag than a tube with wings approach.

Why is this design making news when back in the late 1980's Dr. Robert Liebeck, NASA and Stanford had a scaled down designed demonstrator flying at Edwards AFB. Liebeck was the lead Engineer at Douglas Aircraft at the time when I was an Engineer their at the Long Beach facility. They produced 3 iterations, when Boeing took over the company they just site on the design. They even off-loaded some their findings to Cranfield University in England. Those who control the money are sitting on this concept far to long. Sad state humanity is in with creative minds held back. I'm not a fan of Boeing.

Where is this money coming from? I had an Idea, build a company that provides a service that people need. After you get wealthy, build airplanes for fun. Stop spending my tax money that you don't have yet. Elon musk did it, why can't you?
