    Hello Harry! I'm new to Jeti and using your videos to learn about this stuff, thank you very much for the effort! I was thinking about the clone vs not clone receivers issue. I think the advantage of using a normal and a clone receiver is that both will be receiving data from both of the tx modules, which have antennas on the radio pointed in different directions, meaning, you get a lot more possibilities for antennas on BOTH receivers to pick a signal from any of the radio tx modules. Otherwise, each receiver can only get signals from the tx module it is binded to, so they are separately more likely to fail due to worse relative orientation of the antennas.

    Is it possible to use the second receiver to anything but signal support? Like programming outputs into ex-bus inputs on a REX receiver? Or use them for additional servo outputs when the main receiver has all outputs occupied? Or is the CB400 the only way to go around the problem when using 3 receivers and 16 channels?..

  • @cotswoldpilot

    @cotswoldpilot

    3 жыл бұрын

    You can put servos direct into the secondary, use the receiver's servo output menu to map the channels you want to the sockets that you want - doing this does not affect the channel sequence in the Exbus data to the primary receiver. You also need to set failsafes in the secondary. BUT...... consider the power requirement of the servos plugged into the secondary. Give it its own connection to the battery

    Hi Harry, thanks for this video. I was setting up a dual path system with a primary REX10A (v.1.13) and a secondary REX7. Thing is, REX10A doesn’t show “EXBus Input/backup” as an option in E1 or E2. I tried just “EXBus” but as you have mention it doesn’t work. Then I tried “PPM input” and changed “EXBus” to “PPM positive output” on the REX7 and it works, but not in EXBus mode...

    I have a REX10 A and it shows EXBus input/Backup. Probably the devices file in your transmitter is not up to date. Open Jeti studio, update Studio (is in the help menu if it doesn't do it automatically), backup your Tx then run the Tx update.

    Hello Harry. I’ve followed this video to the letter and I can’t seem to keep the model working when disabling the primary RX. I’m using a REX12 for primary and I’ve tried both a REX3 and RSAT2 for the secondary with no luck. When I disable the primary the antenna display drops to zero but the model stops working. When I disable the secondary I see the secondary RX antenna drop to zero and the model continues to work. Any ideas?

    Hello Harry, Thanks for your superb videos again. I've watch most of them and learned a lot. I have been trying to setup a second receiver in dual path as suggested in this video, but I am having prblems. Setup: Primary receiver is a REX 12 Assist and secondary is a Rex 10, both with the latest firmware. The connection is from the E1 port on the primary (set to EX BUS input/backup in the pin config) to the Ext port on the secondary (no battery connected to the secondary). I cannot get past the Wireless mode/Trainer menu. The "Dual Path" option does not appear; it only shows "Student" and "Teacher". I am sure I am missing something very basic in the connection, but for the life of me, I cant find what it is. Please help!

  • @cotswoldpilot

    @cotswoldpilot

    4 жыл бұрын

    Alan, in double path mode both Rx get all channels. If you give Rx 2 its own power supply, you do not need to connect them by cable and you can connect servos direct to Rx 2. Do not connect servos to Rx 2 if it is powered only by the cable from Rx 1. In the Rx you can re-map the incoming channels to the servo sockets, so for example 16 channels, 2 x 8 channel Rx, in Rx 2 re-map channels 9 - 16 to servo sockets 1 - 8.

However when testing by switching off either of the transmitting channels while servos still work the telemetry display for antenna strength goes to 0 for both receivers. Removing the satellite receiver also shows a 0 strength for both receivers even though receiver one is still connected as normal. Have set up the recivers as you show , satellite connects to E2 on the REX7. Any ideas as to why the telemetry is not as expected.

    I ran into a strange problem, have a REX 7 Ass as primary Rsat2 as secondary. when I disable the primary receiver the telemetry disappears completely, tried to solve this problem for a good while, when I finally change in Rsat2 PPM / UDI from Direct to Computed, then the telemetry starts to work and it continued to work when yes change back to Direct. So the question is why ???

  • @cotswoldpilot

    @cotswoldpilot

    You must use Exbus, not ppm or udi. "Telemetry disappeared" probably means that in wireless settings you left the "Alarm at" at its default of "any receiver", you should change it to "both receivers".

    Hi Harry, dual path has been around since before the Rex receivers, so it’s not entirely correct when you say the r receivers don’t support input. The r7plus r9 r11 r14 r18 can all act as primaries and support satellite.

    Hi Harry I only discovered your videos days ago and I am already addicted. Congrats on your didactic skills. I have a couple of questions if I may. I am building a large scale model and want to take maximum precautions to assure redundancy. So I use a REX10 as primary, a REX3 as secondary and a 900Mhz NG as additional backup (radio is DS-16 II). Primary and secondary are bind in double path mode. REX10 and REX3 are connected via their E1port and REX3 port E2 is connected to 900Mhz E1 port. All works fine. I can kill radio on primary, everything works, same on secondary and even kill primary and secondary and the 900Mhz takes over. It is really wonderful to see. On the telemetry I can see all three sets of antennas. Now here is my first question: if I disable primary all of telemetry is gone, except for the antenna's of the 900Mhz. Same if I disable the secondary receiver. 900Mhz still showing up in telemetry. Even if I disable both primary and secondary, 900Mhz is still showing antenna strength in telemetry. So I wonder is this the way telemetry works or should I receive full telemetry if only one of the primary of secondary is disabled? (telemetry on 900Mhz is limited, that is ok) I also have a second question: if I use two receivers in double path as described, I have to set the E1,E2 correctly on both of course. But what about the receiver outputs? Should I make sure that both receivers show exactly the same outputs? Thanks for taking the time to read my message and a sincere thanks for your help (to my questions and all the other) J. Decuyper

    The disappearance of the A and Q values is simply a wrong setting. Go to Wireless Modes/Trainer menu and set the "Alarm at" to "Both Rx". Don't understand what you mean about both rx having the same outputs.

    @@cotswoldpilot Hi Set alarm to "both Rx", now antenna readings are ok. Only the disabled RX has zero readings. Perfect. The rest of telemetry still goes down with RX1. if RX2 is disabled, all readings are there but if RX1 is disabled they flash and remain on last value. No big deal in fact, so I don't complain about that. What I meant with the receiver outputs: in device explorer, all three RX show up, each one with a Manu with 4 items: general settings, fail safe, alternative Pin config and receiver outputs. in this last option I find 16 Output Pins which can be mapped to servo N°, I did this for the primary and secondary taking care to make the mappings identical. I was wandering if this is really necessary and what would happen if there were a mismatch. Just to make sure I fully understand the Jeti way of programming. Thanks again.

    @@jodecuyper7495 the connection from rex3 to rex10 is one way data, the rex10 E port is set as an input, which is why no telemetry data can get from the 10 to the 3. The outpin mapping applies only to the sockets on that device so there is no conflict if the 2 rx are different. The outpin mapping is not applied to the Exbus data between Rx. The Exbus is not modified for mapping, failsafe etc, so its sequence is the servo assignment shown in the transmitter.
