A riff in 13/4 that sounds natural. This was the best era of Tull. Glascock, Palmer, Barrie Barlow… stunning writing and arranging, Ian’s voice still in its prime.

I saw them in 1978 in Boston garden. I then saw them 45 years later this past October in Hampton Beach New Hampshire with his new band! He still Ian Anderson is still unbelievable although he could not move around the stage like he did 45 years ago. Still a great show!
JETHRO TULL is straight out of the 13th century.

Definitely. Bonham said Barrie Barlow was the " finest drummer England produced in recent years". Blackmore said Glascock was the best bass player. Then you have Evan, Palmer, and Barre.

complete genius, cant believe was 1977 ...how time has flown..and not for the better
Everything about this exquisite composition and performance is head and shoulders above everything today's spoonfed generation have the unfortunate pleasure of seeing and hearing!
One of the most unique and underrated concerts I have ever attended

I have seen around 100 concerts dating back to the early 70's. 1978 - Jethro Tull with Uriah Heep as opener was my very favorite.
Always Portrayed Oldness. Hard to believe he was only 30 here. I agree the best line-up during this period. Favourite song from the Album.

Barrimore Barlow is awesome. Love Jethro tull, amazing band.one of my favourite tull songs.
I discovered Songs from the Wood in about 1980 in my brother's tape collection. I was captivated. That summer, I played it endlessly. The countryside was lush and verdant. Washed with summer rain I just wanted to forget school and go live in a tree. It remains my favorite Tull album. Happy days!

I just saw Jethro Tull I probably mentioned it earlier last october. He's now 76. The last time I seen him was 45 years ago when I was I don't know 16 maybe at the Boston Garden in Massachusetts that's where I'm from I love songs from the wood . That's how I got into him from that album and I love that album one of the very very best❤
Some of the finest drumming you will hear.

My brother thought he was a great drummer - he couldn't drum to this - and mocked it.
Jethro Tull is up there with the giants. They will never get old or out of fashion. On the contrary. And Ian is one of the great ones. His musical genius will live on for many generations to come.
These were the days when everything was possible!
Genius genius genius i played the album on the car on my award winning system agaon for the thousandth time since 77 the music is so...damm..good
...spring & jethro Tull,,,...a welcome Guest here,,,..signal the snow drops,.....it's time to grow !!!!!😮😮😮❤

i got this album on 8 track in 1980 for christmas....i can only think winter when i hear s.f.t.w. now....
For more than 40 bleeping years, just about every time I see something growing up through a crack in the concrete I hear the words, "well I don't think so, I saw some grass growing through the pavement today."
My man Martin Barre playing everything exepct guitar in this track!
Love Tull. This song is so good ... and the lyrics are filled with sexual innuendo. "Won't you have my company? Take it in your hand" Delightful.
Prog Rock at its finest! 💚💚💚 Jethro Tull is Magic ✨🎶✨
In its prime, Tull was untouchable
Who doesn't love Ian Anderson? What a unique talent! I bought a flute years ago. I still have it. I'm no Ian, but it's fun to play.
This specific performance of this song, as included in the '20 Years of Jethro Tull' box set (which I first heard when I got that set as a Christmas present in 1988), is my single favorite piece of music I've ever heard in my life. For me it's the apex of everything I love in music, and has remained fascinating and inspirational to me to this day. Thank you.

UNbelievable sound
This is what it's all about! I've never seen a lead singer play a complex fingering sequence whilst singing before. Usually they sing and then bother multiple frets, or vicey-versey, but it's usually a bridge too far for them to practice both together.
A perfect song for a spring equinox! THNKYOU JETHRO TULL, and God Bless You All.❤
Love Tull, like hearing all the minstrels from the middle ages rolled up into one! 🎶❤️
Wow I'm 17 and I love it so much!!! ❤️

Very awesome man! I was 17 when this came out lol. This and Pink Floyd Animals came out in 77 and I wore out both albums. I still have those albums.

How can one man have so much musical talent?
Seduction poetry at its finest!
Loved this when it came out, still do. Album speaks to my being. Flute!!!!! Olde roots in this album!!!
David Palmer was the "Secret Weapon" of the best Tull years. Even before joining the band lineup, he was making arrangement for JT.
Ever since I first heard this rendition of Velvet Green, tucked away on 1988's 20 Years of Jethro Tull box set, this has been one of my favourite tracks of theirs. Many years later, with the advancement of the internet and KZread, I was overjoyed to be able to see the live perfomance and not only hear it. Now, 35 years later, I still believe this to be one of Tull's finest live achievements (as is all of the Sight And Sound In Concert playlist), the studio version paling in comparison, with Ian's vocals at their melodic best (rather than the over-raspiness prevalent on SFTW). Thanks for an official release of the footage!
Never knew it required a special drum kit for this song. Absolutely worth the bother 👌 Always been a favorite. I imagine if they performed Hunting Girl live they would bring a real whip too 😂
Best band ever!!

Songs From The Wood. I still have that album. I'll have to break it out and give it a spin!
Saw Tull in Rome in 1971. One of the best concerts I've ever seen iN my life. Thank you Ian. Art Johnston from Connecticut.
That’s music
One of my favourite Tull songs
We held this group aside as a special treat from the Philadelphia DJ’s . WMMR kept us going while we finished our volumes of homework. They didn’t over play Jethro Tull. I remember the deep tracks were very great easter eggs. For me, a kid who was not aware of what an Anglophile would possibly be… yet intense on anything British… some people on this earth got to see Jethro Tull AND The Who… on the same day! Wow!
Jethro Tull the Best Classic rock 🎼🎵🎸👍.
Výjimečný talent, výjimečná kapela. Díky, že jste.
I miss these shows. The best touring band.
The first JT song I ever heard. Someone played it for me whilst we were walking on velvet green in 1979.
Magic. That was pure magic!
Still sounds amazing.
LOVE EVERYTHING THIS MASTER ❤ DOES ❤❤❤
No group like Jethro Tull . One of the Best Fusion groups of all time
Best year of Jethro Tull.
This is one of my favorite examples of how good they were. I really love his singing in this. So good.
Gonna get high and listen to Jethro Tull. Only one of those is a first. I can't even wrap my head around the times! Absolutely spectacular!
