This period of Tull was just magical, the songwriting, the subjectivity and clever lyrics and wordplay is just the best. Their output from 1970 through to 1982 was amazing but 76-79 was just off the scale. Beautiful, and thanks Ian and the rest for making some memorable albums.

@@seansullivan5965 I actually love the too old to R&R album as well which isn’t mentioned much when people discuss Tulls best work. I love it especially some of the gentler folky songs on that album like from a dead beat to an old greaser and the 🏁 chequered flag. Songs from the wood just blows me away as well.

I think of all bands that I'm too young to have seen in their prime, Jethro Tull has to be the one I regret missing the most. Ian A. had one of the best voices of all time IMO and he sounds SO GREAT in these 70s concerts. Nobody else sounds this good live. No one comes close to sounding like they do on a record like IA. Amazing.

They did perform Velvet Green at this show. I don't believe it's on this channel yet but is elsewhere. I first heard this live version as included in their '20 Years of Jethro Tull' box set, and then bought a DVD of this show years later. That performance of Velvet Green is my favorite rendition of any song, by anyone, ever, live or studio. It's my one desert-island song.

It's hard to believe Ian Anderson was just 29 when this performance was recorded, and just shy of turning 30. For some reason, he seems to be a bit older than his age here. Maybe the demands of touring aged him a little bit.
