I became a fan after Stand Up was released. The first time I saw them Benefit had not yet been released. I've seen them several times since then. One of the best.

Tull is my favourite band since I became aware of them, that was in the 80s when I was 16.

1977 first show. I have been to over 200 Jethro Tull / Ian Anderson solo shows now. Seen Tull many times in Massachusetts.

I have seen Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson over 40 times.First tour was 1972. This video is the point in his career where he is struggling vocally. If think it was the Under Wraps tour a couple of years earlier that did him in. His voice got progressively worse over time. Oddly enough he continued to tour almost every year, usally performing every night. Now at 75 he continues to carry on. Unfortunately, he should not be performing. Because he simply can't sing. As someone who recognized him for the musical genuis, and wordsmith that he is, it pains me to see him try to perform at this point. Just feel fortunate to have seen him in the glory years, 1972-1979.

I think it would help already if he would perform less. He can still sound good on a lucky night, but most of the time the voice seems strained. He is still a very charismatic singer in the studio, probably after some rest from touring.

I'm afraid his voice is now shot. If you are going to see him live now make sure its after a rest day on the tour, otherwise you may not hear him at all.

Yeah, I remember these tours. His voice was bad, but now it is terrible. I stopped going to shows. There were some good tours after this mess. It was into the 2,000s when it was really terrible some nights. Ian should just play instruments and hire a singer from a cover band if he want to still tour. He must be about done in any case. How old can he still possibly be and still tour?

@@robinblackmoor8732 He is a few years younger than Mick Jagger. His style of flute playing also involves the voice, and former Tull keyboarder Peter-John Vetesse thinks that strains his voice more than singing, because more air must pass the vocal chords to also power the flute. So I think he really should concentrate on studio work and play live occasionally with enough time in between to recover the voice.

I would dispute that. I am past 200 Jethro Tull / Ian Anderson shows at this point. That is how many shows of your favorite band you go see. I only stopped because Ian's voice is just wrecked. He should just play instruments now and hire a singer from a cover band, like Journey did.
