I see that red flag. Don't worry, we're all stilk a little delulu. Also, after the second interrupted ’cabbages’ I just screamed at the screen “THEY ARE DOING THIS ON PURPOSE! JUST LET HIM SAY IT!” And I love that the original VA got to play him. The delivery is perfect.

I think it’s perfectly reasonable storytelling for a teenage boy to think about the Girl who just kissed him, and then move on and have an even deeper thing later thinking he’ll never see girl 1 again, then meet her again later and reactivate those feelings. As a matter of fact… I think that’s exactly what happened in the original series.

yeah, why is "weird" for him to have feelings for yue later knowing how pretty she is and how she ALSO liked sokka in return like, it would have been more weird if we knew that she didn't return sokka's feelings, but thats not the case. is completly normal for a teenager to have feelings for a bunch of people before finding the right one.

That is by far the best "MY CABBAGES" that I have ever heard. Perfect build up.

As wrong as that was and hard as it was to watch, It was an important episode, both in terms of Aang's development and thematically. I was disappointed that they didn't stop at the Northern Air Temple.

People point that out as a good thing, but I feel the desecration of the Northern Air Temple served an extremely important point in the overall story and Aang's character arc. It served to show him that, while the Fire Nation itself may have wiped out the people, the world as a whole is slowly but surely wiping out the Air Nomad culture. And not via malicious destruction, but simply due to them reshaping them to fit their needs. Nuance is honestly something the live action show is lacking in abundance compared to the original animated show.

I think because this show is more serialised, they’re just adding it as a tiny bit of continuity to reinforce that they only just left the island. I don’t think we are meant to take it as Sokka being hung up on Suki, just reflecting on his kiss. I’d be more worried if they kept doing it every episode.

The chocobos are "ostrich horses" and are native to the Earth Kingdom :) You see them often in the animated series

The cabbage guy is the actual actor who voiced him in ATLA.

Obviously one of the big questions about the show was how they would cover as many episodes' events as seen in the trailers with just these eight episodes to work with, and it turns out the answer is to just shove a bunch together. And in this case, it works surprisingly well, making perfect sense that both the Mechanist and Jet would be in Omashu and coming up with a good way to work their stories together.

I love seeing Zamber giving "I can fix him" energy everytime she watches Jet!!!!!🤭🤭🤭🤭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The cabbage guy also voiced the same role in the original series

They already knew about how weird it'd be for Sokka to be with two girls and already solved it by Sokka having some off screen romance too so it's more like he's just happy having an adventure being a teenage boy and meeting girls. So that none of them are like love love. Of course Suki and him can develop more and more later and it turn that way, but it solves that whole Suki/Yue very well that they're not exclusive or a big deal until Yue's death and Suki's bonding.

I thought Jet was Haru at first

Ty Lee has always been my favorite since she appeared in the original series, and seeing Momona Tamada playing her is beautiful, the actress is just like the character 💕

So still watching through the episode but wanted to point out if people or Zamber didn't know, the Cabbage Merchant played by James Sie, who was the voice of the Cabbage Merchant in the animated show as well, which for all of the changes and choices this adaptation makes, little things like that do at least give the vibe that the people behind this do genuinely care about the source material and its cast.

YAY!! Yours is the first reaction video where someone showed the scarf scene (#scarfgate) and discussed it! But RIGHT?! WHY IS THAT SCENE THERE? I love it, but it was definitely unnecessary for plot purposes, there was no reason to have him reach out and touch the scarf (other than driving us zutara shippers crazy). zutara baiting 2.0. 👀😍😭

You didnt see theo flying? First was when aang saw him before going to omashu and then him and aang flying/playing towards the bomb sites on the mountain. Maybe you missed it.

I am loving watching your reactions! But did want to call out we do get to see Teo flying, I believe when they fly up to the cave where they find the blasting jelly. They fly up through the city, but totally get that lack of relationship.

It's a snowball effect. The thing that made the original so great is all the little moments that build up over time to add to these beautifully crafted character arcs. The live action show is so concerned with explaining everything to the audience and making everyone sound serious that they neglect and ignore a lot of the major character beats that eventually add up to their completed arcs and stories. So far, outside of a few, the changes being made are only serving to take away from the original series rather than adding to it.

A lot of the changes I’ve understood and been okay with. All things considered, I’m enjoying it and it’s good. The live action we deserved in the first place

It also helps that even the cartoon just barely got away with the question of Aang and Katara's age difference, and there's no way in hell we'll be seeing it happen the same way with flesh and blood actors.

I mean on the "maybe have more cute moments between aang and katara" to my understanding that is part of a deliberate attempt to remove their future romance. I dont remember where i read it so take this with a grain of salt but i remember something being mentioned about zutara being the new canon ship (like i said i could have seen an innacurate or misinformed or outdated source)

The creators have stated that Katara x Aang will be a thing. They said it's a future storyline.
