Jet Aerator Rebuild, Model: 700LL

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Rebuilding a Jet 700LL septic aerator. This is an almost complete rebuild. Disassembly, bearings, seals, and paint. The motor was not rewound. It is not cost effective to rewind a induction motor of this size.

I'm tearing down a 665LL and its fairly different to the 700LL, but this video is still pretty helpful. For instance all the fasteners are SAE, not metric, and the wiring & bearing sizes are different. There is little to no info on Jet aerators online. They really hold their parts lists and schematics close to the vest, because you can't find them anywhere.

I just put new bearings in mine. It went out over the weekend so I watched this waiting to get bearings on Monday. Drilling the hole in the work bench for the shaft was a good idea that made assembly easier. Thanks.

I can't believe this incredible video exists. I have one of these aerators in my system... just had the tanks pumped and wanted to go over the aerator unit as sort of a preventative measure. I couldn't find any guidance or info on servicing these from a google search, or from the manufacturer. I searched youtube on a whim, and lo and behold this video is here. Hopefully I don't need to tear mine down to the level that you did here, but at least this exists as a reference if I do. I never expected to find a video of this quality on this specific and somewhat obscure topic. The video quality and advice is fantastic. Thank you!

Looks like you may have installed the oil seals backwards. Looks like you installed them with the orientation to keep fluids in (seal label/letters outside) the motor, rebuilding mine the seals were oriented to keep liquids OUT (seal label/letters inside) of the motor. Mine were also packed with grease for lubricant

the red piece is a splash shield. I bet 3m marine sealant would work fine in place of the orings on the housing. also I would spray the inside of the housing with WD40 before assembly, it will displace water

the motor has a start and a run winding, the centrifugal switch disconnects power from the start winding and engages power to the run winding once the motor gets up to speed.

Damn, right @26:28 you skipped right over how you got that bad bearing out!! That is exactly where I am stuck. The inner part popped out with all the bearings fine. But now I have nothing to grab onto to get the outer piece out. I've tried heating the casing, wd40, hammering from the back on the bearing grooves, and prying and hammering from the inside. Nothing works... Did yours just pop out??

Jeff im doing a singulair by norweco right now. they are similar. the way the norweco comes apart is different. ok under the large bolts that hold the legs on, there are long hex head bolts that go all the way thru the motor. the long screws are hidden under white silicone, so u have to dig the silicone out to see them. The bearings in the norweco 960C are dinky chinese LYC 6203-RZ IM going to try to find out what the difference is in the 5203 2 RS in the JET motors And the 6203E -RZ in the NORWECO motors. it looks like the jet bearings are thicker,,, Im also researching if the seals are the same or not. My motor was rebuilt by norweco a few years back and it is in rough shape. the shaft is worn and rusted bad where one of the seals ride, I cannot believe it got this bad in a few years,. I think they rebuilt it and left the shaft like it was. Im going to clean the shaft good where its worn and use 51 percent silver solder to build up the worn area of the shaft then sand it round so the seal will fit the shaft.. when I put everything back together im going to use copper anti seize on the shafts so it is easier to take apart next time. I may make a video of the rebuild,, these motors are not complicated, but as you said, it takes TIME and patience.. I used SUPERZILLA and pb blaster to get my motor apart.. norweco has a carry handle on top, that screws into the bottom of the housing,., I think taking it off would break it, so I had to knock the seal out from the front then take it out of the carry handle air housing with pliers..

also on the norweco singulair aerator, the bearing sleeve sits deep on the shaft u cannot get a bearing puller in there., so what I did, after I got the long steel tube out, I ran a piece of strong string thru the top 2 holes where the allen head screws hold the long shaft on and hung the motor from my bench, I put a cushion under the motor and used a steel driver punch to tap the shaft out of the shaft sleeve. it worked great . you just cannot use thick string to hold the motor up, because the driver punch has to be able to fit into the sleeve past the string.. . this method lets the weight of the motor work for you, with no special tools needed,, the only special tool I needed was a 3 jaw puller to get the bearing off of the sleeve. The norweco singulair 960C also has a circlip on the bottom part of the shaft that keeps the bearing from sliding UP on the shaft. you do not need to remove it to get the shaft and bearing out of the bottom housing. I got the long steel rod out the same way. I wrapped a piece of thick rubber around the shaft and put it in a vice. I tightened it just enough to hold it, I then tapped around the side of the sleeve for a while to loosen things up, then took a punch and tapped on the sleeve bearing until it came off.

Jet 700ll new install motor last 16 months. If the warranty falls through is there an equal motor out there that doesn't say J700 and cost what it is worth not the 500$ they feel they justify because it's in a septic installation.

Jeff, really good video. I am in the middle of rebuilding my pump and discovered a damaged centrifugal switch. You say it’s about $30. Where can I buy it? Do you have a part number? I really appreciate your video. It will definitely save me money. Thanks for your response.

the norweco motors use a bearing with a plastic cover, not a rubber seal. looks like the cheapest shit they could find. cheap junk seals as well,, with exposed metal seal casings!!! I have sourced the high quality bearings and high quality seals for the NORWECO AERATOR motor if anyone needs them, pm me., the only special tool I needed to rebuild my aerator was a 3 jaw generic puller to get the bearings off of the shaft. This motor should last alot longer before a rebuild is needed with my updated parts and methods.
