I think shoot up the place is reference to shyne the rapper supposedly shooting o in a nyc club. Rumor or has it was actually puff doing the shooting but made shyne take the fall and did time upstate for a long time. This was back when puff was dating jlo and she was there and that ended their relationship she didn’t want a bad boy cuz they get shot in clubs. Charlemagne’s saying shoot the club up your right is about what you said it was lol

But when she was put in the band, she put that on hold and now she's back to the type of artist she's always wanted to be. And I'm glad cause I miss this vibe too. late 90s early 2000s hip hop rnb was everything. P.S, about the bad boys thing, she said she does have a thing for bad boys truly and this song was her expressing it. It didnt have anything to do with pointing out stereotypes

I've always loved Jesy, felt she didn't get to fully glow in the band, she always outshone the others from my perspective though. To see her blossom now and and go smash up the place is f#@kin awesome (UK Baddie myself 😁🤣👑) and she's stunning..love her tones n licks..this beat takes me back to my youth..she came..she saw..she conquered..yas yas!! Regarding what you called "toxic masculinity" - I'm actually impressed that you noticed it and were the only one to point this out. I wouldn't call it toxic masculinity though - as someone else mentioned that's sth different. I'd call it a glorification of toxic relationships and toxic men (in this case, bc women certainly can be toxic too), which is still kind of problematic. It's not even just what she says in the song, it's what she's said in interviews about it - that all the good guys she's been with she's lost interest in but as soon as she meets someone who treats her like sh*t, she gets obsessed with them. Which I feel is sth she needs to talk about and work on in therapy, not necessarily glorify with a song. She's of course not alone in feeling this way (many people will be able to relate to it) but if you're only truly into people who treat you badly, cheat on you, don't respect you etc. I feel like that's not healthy and frankly there's sth wrong with you, maybe you don't think you're worth more. There are of course also degrees/middle-grounds to it where someone may not be a super nice person but also not treat you like sh*t so yeah. I don't think it's suuper serious and still like the song but definitely sth I noticed and see critically bc I've seen this tendency in so many women and it often doesn't end well..
