Jesus Lives - a teaching about "The Seeds"

Ойын-сауық

I'm a backyard farmer who loves my vegetable garden and was raised in Alaska by natives who depended on gardens for daily food. So I know what it takes to produce enough food to see one through a hard winter.
To start with, it takes good fertile soil, with good seed that is well tended by an attentive gardener. Without these we can't expect a crop to grow and produce abundant fruit. That is exactly what Jesus Christ lays out for us in one of His longest and most important parables.
Jesus knew how to communicate to his disciples and an audience. One of the many things He became famous for were His stories known as parables. He spoke in parables because He wasn’t overly concerned with eloquently delivering God’s word to sound important or intelligent. He wanted it to be understood by the common people.
In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus talks about the hard ground “by the wayside” that prevents the seed from sprouting at all, and the stony ground that provides enough soil for the seeds to germinate and begin to grow. However because there is “no deepness of earth,” the plants do not take root and are soon withered in the sun. The thorny ground allows the seed to grow, but the competing thorns choke the life out of the beneficial plants. The good ground receives the seed and produces much fruit.
Please join us this Thursday at 7:30pm for anointed worship, and a good sermon called "The Seeds".
