Jesus Heals Peter's Mother-in-Law

When Jesus heals the mother of Peter’s wife as told in the Bible, we learn of a woman who shows her gratitude by serving the Lord. After having been cast out by the elders, Jesus is now in Capernaum, a small fishing village where Peter lives with his wife, her mother, his brother Andrew, and possibly more. On this Sabbath day Jesus breaks cultural norms by healing others: a demon is cast out of a possessed man, Peter’s mother-in-law is healed, and many are brought at the end of the day to Christ for healing. Peter will soon leave his family and join Christ and the other disciples. This video explores the significance of Christ healing the mother of Peter’s wife on the Sabbath day and the Savior’s ability to heal all of mankind.

    @@reillydevine12 Mormons Teach that God the Father was Once a Man who attained Godhood and Later Attained Deity, Like as all other Mormons can Attain Godhood as Said in the Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, P 345: 'God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. 22 I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see.' But the Word of God Says there was no God before the Father nor should there be After Him: Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. Isaiah 43:10 And God's Deity is Eternal: For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Malachi 3:6 This Teaching of Joseph Smith also Contradict his Book of Mormon 8:18 which also State God Cannot Change from Eternity: For I know that God is not a partial God, neither a changeable being; but he is unchangeable from all eternity to all eternity. Book of Mormon 8:18 Joseph Smith Teaches that there are 3 Seperate Gods: 'I have always declared God to be a distinct personage, Jesus Christ a separate and distinct personage from God the Father, and the Holy Ghost was a distinct personage and a Spirit: and these three constitute three distinct personages and three Gods' But Contradicts himself in Doctrines and Covenant 20:28: 'Which Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are aone God, infinite and eternal, without end. Amen. Doctrines and Covenants 20:28' And also Contradicts The Word of God that Says there are no God's but only God: Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God...Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any. Isaiah 44:6‭, ‬8 Joseph Smith Teaches that Jesus was Born in Jerusalem: And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God. Alma 7:10 When Jesus was Born in Bethlehem: Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judæa in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem. Matthew 2:1 Joseph Smith Teaches that the Father has Flesh and Bones: The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s. Doctrines and Covenants 130:22 But the Bible Teaches that God is an intangible Spirit: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. Luke 24:39 Mormons Teach that God Doesn't Dwell in the Hearts of People: The aappearing of the Father and the Son, in that verse, is a personal bappearance; and the idea that the Father and the Son cdwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is False. D&C 103:3 But the Bible Teaches that he Does: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith. Ephesians 3:17 Book or Mormon says Polygamy is Abomination: "Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord." Jacob 2:24 And it came to pass that Riplakish did not do that which was right in the sight of the Lord, for he did have many wives and concubines, and did lay that upon men’s shoulders which was grievous to be borne; yea, he did tax them with heavy taxes. Ether 10:5 But Covenants and Doctrines in Mormonism Say that Polygamy is Acceptable: David’s wives and concubines were given unto him of me, by the hand of Nathan, my servant, and others of the prophets who had the keys of this power; and in none of these things did he sin against me. D&C 132:39 Joseph Smith was a Womanizing Polygamist which is against the Bible: For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: if any be blameless, the husband of one wife. Titus 1:5‭-‬6 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach. 1 Timothy 3:2 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 1 Timothy 3:12 Joseph Smith Teaches you will Get Many Wives in Heaven when you will Not: Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. Matthew 22:29‭-‬30 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. Mark 12:24‭-‬25 Mormonism Teaches Salvation by Grace is with Works: Latter Day Saints Dictionary: ''This grace is an enabling power that allows men and women to lay hold on eternal life and exaltation after they have expended their own best efforts” For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.” 2 Nephi 25:23 Bible Teaches Salvation by Grace is without Works: And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. Romans 11:6 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Galatians 2:21 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Romans 4:4‭-‬5 Mormonism teaches that you can Baptise for the Dead, Whereas Book of Mormons (Alma)Teaches that you Cannot Baptise for the Dead: And now, as I said unto you before, as ye have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness WHEREIN THERE CAN BE NO LABOR PERFORMED. Ye cannot say, when ye are brought to that awful crisis, that I will repent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world. For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to THE SPIRIT OF THE DEVIL, AND HE DOTH SEAL YOU HIS; therefore, the Spirit of the Lord hath withdrawn from you, and hath no place in you, AND THE DEVIL HATH ALL POWER OVER YOU; and this is the FINAL STATE OF THE WICKED. Alma 34:33-35 There is Such thing as Hell Contrary to what Mormons Believe: And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Luke 16:23 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Matthew 23:33 And Jesus is God: Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. Romans 9:5 Come to Jesus Jesus Saves!

    @@reillydevine12 FAILED PROPHECIES OF JOSEPH SMITH: Prophecy # 1 - The Coming of the Lord President Smith then stated that the meeting had been called, because God had commanded it; and it was made known to him by vision and by the Holy Spirit. . . . it was the will of God that they should be ordained to the ministry and go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, for the coming of the Lord, which was nigh - even fifty six years should wind up the scene. (History of the Church, Vol. 2, page 182). This prophecy was spoken by Joseph Smith in 1835, and recorded by Oliver Cowdery. The fifty-six years were passed by 1891. Prophecy # 2 - David W. Patten to go on a mission Verily, thus saith the Lord: It is wisdom in my servant David W. Patten, that he settle up all his business as soon as he possibly can, and make a disposition of his merchandise, that he may perform a mission unto me next spring, in company with others, even twelve including himself, to testify of my name and bear glad tidings unto the world. (Doctrine & Covenants 114:1) This prophecy was made on April 17, 1838. David W. Patten died in October of 1838 and thus never went on a mission the following spring. Prophecy # 3 - The United States Government to be overthrown in a few years I prophecy in the name of the Lord God of Israel, unless the United States redress the wrongs committed upon the Saints in the state of Missouri and punish the crimes committed by her officers that in a few years the government will be utterly overthrown and wasted, and there will not be so much as a potsherd left for their wickedness in permitting the murder of men, women and children, and the wholesale plunder and extermination of thousands of her citizens to go unpunished (History of the Church, Vol. 5, page 394). Joseph Smith made this prophecy in May 6, 1843. However, the United States Government did not redress any of the wrongs committed against the Mormons in Missouri, and now over 150 years later, the U.S. Government still stands. Prophecy # 4 - Congress to be broken up as a government While discussing the petition to Congress, I prophesied, by virtue of the holy Priesthood vested in me, and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that, if Congress will not hear our petition and grant us protection, they shall be broken up as a government, and God shall damn them, and there shall be nothing left of them - not even a grease spot. (Millennial Star, Vol. 22, p. 455. See also History of the Church (HC), vol. 6, p. 116, though when this prediction was incorporated into the official history, Mormon Church leaders decided to leave out the "grease spot" part.) The petition was not heard nor was protection granted (Deseret News, Vol. 1, p. 59). Yet, Congress was never broken up and continues to function to this day. It is interesting that the compilers of History of the Church, added an editorial note in an attempt to soften or explain this prophecy. They state that: "This prediction doubtless has reference to the party in power; to the ‘government’ considered as the administration;" (note, p. 116). According to the note in HC, this means the Democratic Party, which was in control at the time. However, the prediction is that "Congress shall be broken up as a government" and Congress is made up of representatives from both parties. The Saints were making an appeal to the General Government, not to the Democratic Party, a point made by a summary statement in the left margin beside this prophecy as it is recorded in HC. Prophecy #5 -Finding Treasure in Salem, Massachusetts This prophecy is recorded in Doctrine & Covenants Section 111. The introduction to this prophecy, found at the beginning of Section 111 states: Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Salem, Massachusetts, August 6, 1836. HC 2:465-466. At this time the leaders of the [LDS] Church were heavily in debt due to their labors in the ministry. 1. I, the Lord your God, am not displeased with your coming this journey, notwithstanding your follies. 2. I have much treasure in this city for you, for the benefit of Zion, and many people in this city, whom I will gather out in due time for the benefit of Zion, through your instrumentality. 3. Therefore, it is expedient that you should form acquaintance with men in this city, as you shall be led, and as it shall be given you. 4. And it shall come to pass in due time that I will give this city into your hands, that you shall have power over it, insomuch that they shall not discover your secret parts; and its wealth pertaining to gold and silver shall be yours. 5. Concern not yourselves about your debts, for I will give you power to pay them. No treasure was ever discovered, nor did Salem ever fell into the hands of the Mormons. Prophecy #6 - Pestilence, Hail, Famine & EarthQuake to Destroy the Wicked And now I am prepared to say by the authority of Jesus Christ, that not many years shall pass away before the United States shall present such a scene of bloodshed as has not a parallel in the history of our nation; pestilence, hail, famine, and earthquake will sweep the wicked of this generation from off the face of the land, to open and prepare the way for the return of the lost tribes of Israel from the north country. The people of the Lord, those who have complied with the requirements of the new covenant, have already commenced gathering together to Zion, which is in the state of Missouri; therefore I declare unto you the warning which the Lord has commanded to declare unto this generation, remembering that the eyes of my Maker are upon me, and that to him I am accountable for every word I say, wishing nothing worse to my fellow-men than their eternal salvation; therefore, "Fear God, and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment is come." Repent ye, repent ye, and embrace the everlasting covenant and flee to Zion, before the overflowing scourge overtake you, for there are those now living upon the earth whose eyes shall not be closed in death until they see all these things, which I have spoken, fulfilled (History of the Church, Vol. 1, pp. 315-316). Such a widespread destruction of the wicked of that generation never occurred. Prophecy # 7 - Temple to be Built in Zion, Missouri This prophecy comes directly from Doctrine & Covenants Section 84, the introduction of which states: Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, September 22 and 23, 1832. HC 1:286-295. 1. A revelation of Jesus Christ unto his servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and six elders, as they united their hearts and lifted their voices on high. 2. Yea, the word of the Lord concerning his church, established in the last days for the restoration of his people, as he has spoken by the mouth of his prophets, and for the gathering of his saints to stand upon Mount Zion, which shall be the city of New Jerusalem. 3. Which city shall be built, beginning at the temple lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in the western boundaries of the State of Missouri, and dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith, Jun., and others with whom the Lord was well pleased. 4. Verily, this is the word of the Lord, that the city New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which temple shall be reared in this generation. 5. For verily this generation shall not all pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord, and a cloud shall rest upon it, which cloud shall be even the glory of the Lord, which shall fill the house. The Mormons were forced to flee Missouri due to persecution and a temple was never built on the "temple lot" in the lifetime of Joseph Smith or within the generation of his contemporaries.

    The Jews were persecuting Jesus because he cured a paralysed man on the day of the Sabbath, and accused him of making himself God. However, Jesus rejected their accusation. He made it clear to them that his actions did not come from his own decision, but they came from God. Jesus was only doing as the Father was doing. During his entire ministry Jesus was a messenger just like Moses and Abraham and Solomon and David and Ismail and Isaac before him, Muslims believe that Jesus was not crucified, It was the plan of Jesus’ enemies to crucify him, he Demanded that the children of Israel Worship the One True God they instead mocked him and conspired with the Romans against him but God saved him and raised him up to Him,And the likeness of Jesus was put over another man. Jesus’ enemies took this man and crucified him, thinking that He was jesus

    @@rahimerayane4298 Jesus was indeed the Father's messenger and his actions came from the Father. As for whether Jesus was crucified or not, this is a matter of faith since none of us were there to see it for ourselves. The record we have indicates that afterwards there were those felt the sword wound in his side and the prints of the nails in his hands and feet. "Feel me and see," he said. Faith that the record is true is a gift of God through the Holy Spirit.

    @@brb5506 Anyway We Muslims believe that Jesus peace be upon him he was a human being, not a God nor the son of God. He was sent by God to us as a Messenger, to deliver to us the Bible and to guide humanity to the right path. God gave Jesus the ability to perform numerous miracles so that his people would believe him and follow his teachings. These miracles include curing the diseased, giving sight to the blind and even raising the dead. However, these miracles were performed by the will of God, and not by any special ability of Jesus himself, as he was just a human being and a Messenger of God.

    It’s not that he did no work on the sabbath, but that the work of the Priests and Levites was done on the Sabbath. And only the Priests and Levites did work on the Sabbath, they performed the sacrifices, once in the morning, and once in the evening, while the ordinary people did no customary work. Jesus healed on the Sabbath to fulfill the typology of the Priests and Levites performing the temple services on the Sabbath. Literally, Jesus as the High Priest of heaven, was the only one with the true right to be working on the Sabbath, and this is what angered them, the same as him telling them he was the Messiah.

    I have a question: was it common for men to leave their parents home and live on their own as single men? Or did single men live with their parents until they married? And if it's the later, why would Andrew live with his brother and sister-in-law instead of with his parents? I've always wondered this and am hoping you could give insight.

  • @messagesofChrist

    @messagesofChrist

    You would live with parents until you were married or they died. The Isralite home was also more of a collection of many families related. So for example, when a young man was engaged, he would build a new home that was attached to his parent's home, so you might have many brothers living in the same home, or better said, family complex. So it was very common to live with family, or next door to family so to speak.

    We Muslims believe that Jesus peace be upon him he was a human being, not a God nor the son of God.

    Rahime, Christians also believe that what Jesus did was by the will of the father. John 6:38 says, “For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” It must be acknowledged that there is confusion among Christian sects because of the idea of the triune God, but not all Christians accept that doctrine, believing instead that Jesus Christ was the literal mortal offspring of God the Father. One way or the other, there are many witnesses of Jesus’s miraculous works that surpass human understanding.

    @@drmichaelshea Hey I'm really respect your point, in islame we believe that Jesus peace be upon him was miraculously conceived with no father and also performed great miracles by the will and permission of God. He spoke as a baby in the cradle, he gave life to the dead, cured the leper and the blind - all by the will of God. The fact that Jesus (peace be upon him) performed miracles does not mean that he was anything more than a humble servant of God. In fact, many Messengers performed miracles, including Noah, Moses and Muhammad (may peace be upon them all) and these miracles only took place by the permission of God, so as to demonstrate the authenticity of the Messenger.. .

    @@rahimerayane4298 I understand your point of view. We have different understandings, but I’m not so sure they’re all that important. I do believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, but I agree that as God’s mortal son, was was certainly God’s servant. Is it not true said he was sent to do the will of the Father? It is also written the Jesus is our intercessor, our intermediary, with the Father. I believe that Jesus was crucified, as Isaiah and others prophesied, and that his crucifixion was part of Jesus’s atonement - or sacrifice - four our sake. I believe one other thing, and that is that real seekers after truth will all eventually reach the same conclusions in due time. I thank you for writing, Rahime. I will say prayers on your behalf, and I ask you to consider doing the same for me. Very best regards, m.

    That’s OK, lots of people are not Latter-day Saints, but believe nevertheless. Didn’t Jesus say, “Other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd?” The question isn’t what you are but what you hope to become and whether you are willing to look for and accept truth wherever you can find it.
