I watched this production of JCST a few weeks ago - AMAZING, BRILLIANT! Jesus Christ Superstar is my favorite musical of all time and I've watched the original a lot! But this production blew my mind. It was so good. I LOVED IT!!! Congratulations to all the amazing stars and lastly Andrew Lloyd Webber - ROCKS!!!! Angie Wilkin, Auckland, New Zeland

AMAZING production last night on Easter! I grew up on the old production and this show was fresh and new. I was moved from the very beginning. When Legend came out and blew a kiss then outstretched his hands to the audience in the very beginning I knew this show was going to be very special! AMAZING show! Very wonderful! I hope they make it possible to purchase a CD! BRAVO everyone!

I watched this to hear from Brandon who replaced Leslie Odom, Jr. as Burr in Hamilton so he's the most experienced. Very insulting that the director only talked about John, Sara, and Alice. Judas is the pivotal role in this musical. Well, he was brilliant and we all know it.

A head scratching and incomprehensible Jesus Christ meets West Side Story mashup, but with many strong vocal and theatrical performances by some very talented actors here. Strangely, Alice Cooper's twisted and ridiculous vaudeville performance as King Herod was a high point, despite his channeling Bob Hope by stepping out of character to play to the theater and home audience for applause and instant praise. But, for both the theater and home audience, I cannot deny there were not some great moments here, some of which both brought tears to my eyes as well as spiritual inspiration. The limitations of commercial television with commercial interruptions between every song number was the certainly a momentum buster when the show had managed to work well and capture the audience imaginations.

Alice cooper was indoctrinated as a child. Jesus is a myth made up by middle eastern sexist men - hell bent on controlling woman. The bible endorses slavery, incest, rape, genocide, and even human and animal sacrifice! You should try to actually read the bible. Alice Cooper was indoctrinated from birth by his parents - the only way religion finds its way into the mind of humanity. No Jesus is coming for you!

This is perfect timing for this to be shown. Not trying to be religious on here , but i have my faith in god ,and Jesus , we need some light in this wold that is so full of fear , and hate , we need to start loving ,and being respectful to one another instead of blaming others . Now any one can believe in what they want to believe in and that is perfectly ok , But my faith has always been by my side when I felt like I wanted to just give up I have been through a lot of hard struggles in my life that were very hard , and lonely . As Jesus said , we need to heal ourselves . we have the power to change for the better . Yes he could heal you with a touch of his hand , but their was to little of him to go around . But with that being said he is always around even when we feel like giving up and feel like all hope is lost . Again people can choose what they want to believe in .

In the temple scene of Jesus Christ Superstar , the poor ,and the sick , and dying , know that he has powers from god ,and that he can heal all of their Problems . They where crowding him ,and He said that there is to many of you ,and too little of me . And He screams HEAL YOUR SELVES ! What I mean is that people where taking him for granted ,and not trying to help themselves when they have their own power to help their own self and lives get better . That is what I take from it .

On October 3, 1847...a miracle that not too many people know about occurred in Ocotlan, Jalisco...a village in Mexico...The villagers there had gathered to mourn the loss of 40 villagers who had died there just one day before, after an earthquake hit their village...the mourners were having a church ceremony when suddenly two clouds showed up in northwestern sky...the clouds separated...then Jesus appeared to them from between the two clouds...He was hanging on the cross suffering for them...He was seen by many villagers from all different directions...it is documented that 2000 persons witnessed Jesus's image in the sky...Jesus Christ Superstar 2018 reminded me of that wonderful miracle that God granted Mexico... 170 years ago!!!

John was completely overshadowed by everyone else in that musical.. Broadway singing is a completely different level and they had him up there with Sarah and Brandon, 2 massively successful performers.. and they both just outperformed him. I felt bad for John cause he just didn’t have that range.

As a family we were disappointed with the lack of acting, and then my husband pointed out it was advertised as a concert. Listening to the interview above, they are pretty much saying it was planned as a interactive concert. The music is awesome, however I enjoy the story just as much and wish they had incorporated more acting. Was surprised to learn A. Cooper played Herod back in what did he say 1960?

The 2000 Broadway version seemed pedestrian and mediocre until the last quarter hour. For some reason at Jesus' death, I broke down weeping and began praying. My guess is that Jesus Christ Superstar brought souls to Christ, and precisely those souls who are turned away by the words and actions of some of the haters on this thread.

I believe the scene you are referring to is the one where the apostle Simon is trying to get Jesus to build an army and march on Rome after having a fight with the Roman guard. Jesus at the end of it doesn’t agree with him and says that Simon is misunderstanding the point of his message. The fact that the fight broke out because Jesus hippy dippy verbally flipped the bird at the pharisees is not mentioned.....

I'm sorry but no one can play Jesus in Superstar better than Ted Neeley. No disrespect to John. Ted nailed it. You saw his heart, emotions in the Garden. Through the whole movie. .... and no one can hit those high notes like Ted. If anyone wants to compare performances go to Jesus Christ Superstar the Garden of Gethsemane 1973 Ted Neeley. For someone who knew they were going to be crucified shortly John didn't show the emotion like Ted did. John is a great singer but he didn't sell it. Especially in Gethsemane. He just sang the song. Again, just my thoughts and not to disrespect John Legend.

I have always liked Jesus Christ Super Star the rock opera in the context of being seeing through the eyes of Judas. Alice, love ya, but one of the things that doesn't sit right with me about it though is the confusion of Christ when He says "I wanna know my God" He knew His God and why he had to do what he did. He had a struggle with it but never any confusion. - The Second Greatest Story Ever Told - Les Ullrich

I enjoyed this production a lot, I celebrate that they did it. Having said that, John Legend was totally miscast; he doesn't have the vocal range needed for the role, he gave a very mediocre rendition of Gethsemane. Sara Bareilles' voice is beautiful but you could always tell she's not an actress. Her movements were dorky all the time because she just doesn't know how to stand, move, *be* on a theatre stage. Alice Cooper was fun and I was happy to see him being part of this, however nothing outstanding about his performance. Ben Daniels was the worst Pontius Pilate I've ever seen/heard. (He even ran out of voice during his final solo.) *Brandon Victor Dixon was amazing* (I think he was the best out of all the cast.) The musicians were amazing and the overall orchestration was beautiful. I wish these beautiful productions a better casting selection next time.

I was thinking that I can't wait to see this when I heard that Alice cooper was in it! "Jesus Christ Superstar" is my favorite rock opera and one of my top 20 all time favorite albums, WITH THE ORIGINAL cast of singers, which included the incredible Ian Gillan! However, FYI, Jesus was JEWISH, NOT African! It's aggravating that Black people keep trying to claim that everyone who is considered to be respectable was actually Black! Stop trying to rewrite history! Jesus was Jewish, which means that the look that he has been depicted with through the millennia, is likely correct!

I wouldn't mind it except for the fact that it seems they HAVE TO, in other words the way they think "Well we can't have Him be who He is, so let's go liberal", anyways Cooper nailed it, if that wasn't the slyist testimony I don't know what is, here's he's saying "I don't think it's blasphemous", when the rest probably don't understand that word, Alice is a real, hardcore Christian.

Also, it's not a literal depiction of the people as they actually existed in history. Did you think Hamilton was trying to convince people that Hamilton was Puerto Rican and Washington was Black?

I understand, the second I wrote that I realized it came out wrong, I can promise you I'm not racist. So here me out and hopefully you'll get my point. I went to school with about 33% dark skin people, then I boxed and it was almost all dark skin people, but I NEVER THOUGHT OF PEOPLE IN TERMS OF SKIN COLOR, I happen to think it's the most ignorant, racist stupid thing ever. When I refer to people, HUMANS, I never refer to them by their skin color. So the point I messed up, I've noticed that OTHERS DO MAKE A BIG DEAL OF SKIN COLOR, to me THAT'S RACIST, I agree with MLK that we should not "Judge a person by the color of their skin but by the content of their character", but THAT'S NOT WHAT I SEE IN SOCIETY, what I see are Hollywood liberals saying "Oh we don't have enough black skin people, so let's balance everything out", so from my standpoint, as someone who doesn't see skin color, for WE'RE THE SAME, EXACTLY THE SAME, if I died my skin black and a dark skin person had their's bleached are we now different? No, we're the same, just different skin color. So my point, which I made so badly was this, "Diversity", Diversity is THE MOST RACIST THING I CAN THINK OF, it says "We won't judge people by character, but by skin color, so if we don't have enough white skin, brown skin, blacker skin we need to balance it, and ignore who they are", follow me? See how that's racist, for they are NOT judging on the person, but the skin. So I wrote that bad, racism is REAL, I made a dark skin guy manager of my business, TWO PEOPLE said "I'm not taking orders from a N....er", I immediately fired them, and it made me sick, sorry for the confusion.

Damn, this is a mess. I don't even know where to start. I will say that just because you believe that you don't think race matters does not mean that you are not or can't be racist. It just means that you have no idea what you're talking about on the subject and seem to have no willingness to learn.

All I know is this musical better not be like the original Blasphemous twisted Musical the first one was depicting Jesus as having a wife I hope the produces actually read the Bible before they put this project together. But then again I think I'll pass on this corny play I have absolutely no interest in seeing how this corrupt World depicts my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ😉

The way they depict Christ is as a man who did good for humanity. Jesus IS GOD. Jesus was never having an affair with Mary Magdalene. Jesus was not ONLY a man.. they are blaspheming God.
