Jesus and I - by Rev. Howard Grace

A poem by my grandfather, referenced in the latest sermon (June 23, 2024)
Jesus and I
The boat is so small and the sea so wide.
Make it two, Lord.
I cannot go it alone, the waves run fast and high.
And the fog’s closed all around, the light goes out in the sky.
But if there be two, they could win in the end.
Jesus and I.
Coward and wayward and weak, I change with the changing sky.
Today so eager and bright, tomorrow too weak to try.
But He never gives in, maybe two could win.
Jesus and I.
I cannot guide it myself, my boat on the stormy seas.
Will none not sit by my side, and pull and steer with me?
Then I know that we two could safe enter port.
Jesus and I.
