    😂😂 to everyone saying I didn't understand the movie. Here are some things I want to point out. Read carefully. I loved the movie and every act got emotions flowing. The movie did its job and it was amazing. I understood the message they wanted to give. "He died a hero in his son's eyes" and "He tried even though he knew he was going to die." The problem I have with the ending is 1 - His son already loved him unconditionally from the start, even before he saw his father playing cricket, never judged him. So Arjun just needed to keep a good relationship with his son. 2 - The main reason he couldn't give his son a shirt was because of his financial condition, easily fixed if he accepted a job as a coach. 3 - His son asked him to play cricket not knowing his dad would die. His wife bought him a ticket not knowing he would die. He hid that information from them. Which was selfish of him, he made the decision by himself. 4 - He wanted to prove that he could be in the Indian team despite his age, yet his death showed everyone that they were right in assuming he wasn't fit. Therefore, undermining the idea that an older player can make it. 5 - If cricket wasn't what made him depressed, then why didn't he accept the 50k rupees to pay his lawyer and get the job back? It all comes down to pride. 6 - The character arc was meant to show how he evolved as a person, but he didn't. He still died as an irresponsible, proud and stubborn man, but now with a legendary status. 7 - Children don't know what's best for their future, you shouldn't die for them. A father provides for his family whether they are losers or not. Food on the table, a roof over their heads, clothes and good education make a great father, a hero. Not giving your life to get into the Indian team but never even play one match. 8 - The movie was about father-son relationship but as soon as Arjun started playing cricket, Nani lost screen time in the movie. 9 - after a death like this, the committee would never consider an older player again in fear this would happen again, so he ruined it for the other older dreamers. 10 - His pride didn't allow him to buy a 50 rupees fake shirt. His pride didn't allow him to ask coach Katappa for money. His pride didn't allow him to fix his financial condition. His pride led him to his premature death. I wish he had humbled himself and stayed alive. In conclusion, this movie isn't logical in real life and we should watch it ignoring the obvious real life situations and solutions. It's an entertaining movie and it's worth watching. I would give it a 8/10. However, with all of the above said, this would be my alternative ending: Arjun wins the match, collapses. Same things happen. They are at the book launch. Senior Nani gets the news from the doctor and the Jersey. Then Nani explains what happened, he says: "After the match, my father was admitted to hospital, he fell into a 2 day coma and woke up to the news that he was selected to play for the Indian National team." Int. Hospital. 1996 Arjun's friends and family are celebrating his news and the fact he woke up. Coach says "Arjun, you were selected to the national team!" Sarah is happy but worried. Arjun replies "I told you I would be selected, but this time I really quit." Sarah is surprised, she asks "but Arjun, this was your dream, isn't this what you wanted?" Young Nani is outside playing, Arjun can see him from the window. On his hospital bed, Arjun turns his head to look at Nani, he says "I have more important matters to attend." Then holds Sarah's hand with a smile. Cut back to Senior Nani: "I never understood why my father had quit cricket, until now. He was suffering from a disease and even though he knew the risks, he proved to everyone that it was possible to be chosen for the Indian team at any age. Yet, If he had accepted it, he would've certainly died. He didn't. He gave my mother and I the best life we could've wished for. That's why he is my hero. That's why we are gathered here today. This book is in his memory, he passed away last month due to his condition, but he will live on forever." Nani holds the book up. The end. There, everyone is happy, he died a good father and a legendary cricketer. He proved anyone can become a cricketer at any age, the only reason he quit was his health condition and his family, not his age. ☺️

    All this happened because his son asked for a Jersey. Even though he knew that he had heart disease but in reality he want to fulfill his son's first wish and be like a hero for him, otherwise his son will also look him like a looser like the rest of the people, and he don't want to become like that in his son's perspective. Very emotional movie.... Tollywood delivers pretty good content movies when compared to all other industries which made it as top industry amongst the rest. This is the main reason Bollywood remakes telugu movies a lot. This movie is getting released in Hindi soon with the main lead as Shahid Kapoor, who had his previous movie biggest hit in his career which is also a telugu remake.

    Yes, he can't win in either of situations. but, for other's " tried even knowing he would die". not completely a failure. he died as a hero for his kid, which is what he wanted to be. his son is the only one who didn't judged him. yes, some bad decisions like not telling his coach and wife about his disease.

    @mahesh_vasupilli2 жыл бұрын

    10:22 ...yes you're right. There's no situation for him to win and he knew it as well. But this is not about winning and losing but "trying". Trying so hard even death can't fear him, so to live like a hero not to the whole world but to his son, who's love he can't afford to lose. Its the struggle & determination that is to be valued not the win. This isn't a story' about a legend who won among a 100, but about the "one" among lost 99 who died while "trying".

    I understood the message bro, I just don't agree with it 🤦‍♂️ Why do you guys always assume I didn't understand the movie? Kids don't know better, there are other ways to be a hero for kids, the most important way is being alive and around for them. He said it himself, "my son never judged me". He only did that out of his own fear. "I'm afraid he will change his opinion about me and think like others." He did it because of his own fear of being a loser, it wasn't for the good of his child. Did he leave behind any support? Some are saying he was depressed because he lost the government job, well, if that's the case, if cricket wasnt the issue, why didn't he pay the lawyer? The whole movie showed how proud he was and he died with his pride. Which isn't noble, being humble is the most heroic thing you can do. What he did might seem legendary, but it was selfish, he left his wife and child just to prove he could get into the Indian team. He left no financial support for them, he never gave them a choice. Honestly, would his son have told him to play if he knew he would never see his father again? His son said he was a hero because he wanted to support him. His death was his own decision, and that's not noble. Everyone supported him from the beginning, his coach believed in him and said he was unfit so many times. Arjun was stubborn. Watch the replacements with Keanu Reeves. I prefer that ending. It actually shows that age doesn't matter. In Jersey, the ending proves that age and health is a big impediment for you to follow your dreams and it proves everyone was right to not give him a chance. In real life, this would be used an example to never recruit anyone over the age again. Regulations would be put in place to avoid such events to ever happen again. So this isn't a story about the 99% who keeps trying. That's my issue with the ending. It has so many real life implications that isn't heroic at all. He singlehandedly ruined it for everyone else while leaving wife, son, friends and supporters. I, myself, would've made a different ending. I would have made him go to hospital, get the news that he was selected for the Indian team, then have him refuse it, everyone would be confused "but this is your dream", he would be laying on the hospital bed, look outside to his son playing and he would say "I have more important matters to attend" and smile while holding his wife's hand. Then he would become a coach and cricket mentor. While being a great father. He would still be a hero, but he would prove to everyone that he was right and that it is possible to go into the Indian team against all odds, but he eventually chose his son over cricket. Now that's a heroic father! Then he could die and have a book written about him and his son learn about his father's true condition, etc... I think being a father was more important to this movie's story. I have spoken too much now, but that's my POV. 😂👍

And u r asking why he is not doing any job the doctor clearly said u can't take any physical stress so he is doing government job and he lost his job by false assumptions that's why he refuse to give money to the lawyer and stayed jobless for 2 year's.

    11:01 actually that's not the case. there was a time gap of 10 years, when he left cricket and re-entering. last 2 years he lost his job and he couldn't take care of his family, but first 8-years he was good!! 11:24 I think you need to watch the climax again!! from 6:56 13:33 that's not the case he chose family but his son asked!! 14:28 they addressed that point in starting of the movie itself!!

    I too felt the same when i watched it 1st time.. But later on i understood that the director don't want to use logics here... He want to present an emotional drama and he succeeded in it... As a scene by scene this movie is wonderful... As a whole story it's not that logically convincing.

    Yeah, the movie keeps your emotions up, but there are so many ways he could've solved his problem. So many holes in the story. His son didn't even know his father played cricket, yet they had a great relationship. His son never judged him, yet he was afraid he would be seen as a loser. On what basis? The movie is about father and son relationship, yet when he chose cricket, his son had minimal screen time. He died 2 days after the match, but the book was only written 20+ years later, and only he was sent the shirt from the grave 🤭 Anyways, this movie had excellent emotions, but the writing needed more connection. I liked every moment of it, but the ending didn't convince me.

    I didn't miss it, I just didn't think it was logical. Since when do children know best? Nani didn't even know Arjun had a heart problem, he didn't even understand that 500 rupees could pay 5 months of electricity bill. Arjun was irresponsible, he should've been a hero as a father, not as a cricketer. 🤷‍♂️ My full thoughts are in the pinned comment

    This is the problem of subtitles, actual feelings of hero not properly projected via subtitles, except his sone everybody judged him unfit and looser/not productive, but his son never judged him in his entire life, for his son his father is always a hero in cricket, so father wanted to see that happiness in his son and no top of that his financial condition was not good, he didn't want raise hand for money.

    Paul the point is that when he left cricket his family didn't know that why did he left cricket and they were not given respect to him because he is not earning money. It is also happened in real life also if anyone is not earning money when he is able to earn. there is no respect for him. sadly but it is true. When arjun come back to play cricket his intention is that he is not a loser and he proved that also. The most important point to play for arjun is his son. He did for his son even he knew that he died if he will play cricket. Nice reaction paul. Waiting for your next reaction video.

    This is what happens when you are trying to react to each dialogue and missed out on many nuances. Initially I thought you are missing so many intricate details due to cultural differences, but as the series progressed, it was clear that you want to prove yourself an 'intelligent' being and watched the while movie with so many preconceived notions. May be you try watching the movie again, this time with a bit of open mind and slightly more attention? 🤔

    What do I have to prove? lol, why would I want to prove I'm an intelligent human being? Bro, have you seen my videos? I make so many videos owning my fails, and telling you clearly when I don't know something. I have nothing to prove to anyone 😂😂 Let me enjoy the movie. When I try to guess what's going to happen, it's like when some people make bets on their team's results. Watching movies for me is like watching sports for you. I shout at the screen, I make my predictions, and I live the moments as they come. Whenever I shout "why??", it doesn't mean I don't know why, it means I'm indignant about it. 😂 If your favourite cricket player gets sent out and you shout "why????!" Do you want someone to explain it to you by saying "well, you see, in cricket when someone hits the wicket, it means they are out". No bro, you know the rules, yet you shout out an emotion. I understood the movie, but I just don't agree with Arjun wanting to kill himself for no reason. His son only found out his father played cricket in the second half of the movie, but from the beginning Arjun was his hero, simply because he was a good father.
