His phrasing and harmony know no equal. Together, these techniques, in his hands, are exquisite and quite perfect. To me, he is THE great American guitarist.

I don't know any guitarist better than Reed. He had perfect taste as well. Willie Nelson wasn't quite the virtuoso Reed is, but he can play great and he has impeccable taste as well. Nelson's playing on the album Spirit is jaw-dropping.

What a huge talent this man was...it's rare. He left us too soon, only his early seventies. I hope he's still pickin' somewhere.

If there was never a Jerry Reed, you'd a had to INVENT one! In my humble opinion the most complete and certainly the most under-rated artist in the history of Country Music. Singer, song-writer, musician extra-ordinaire...Entertainer, actor and PERSONALITY! The more time goes the by the more precious and priceless his music becomes. And his influence is STILL felt to this day. There's only handful of current pickers that can really cop his licks (although not with same ease and finesse) but nobody could ever come up with as many sensational licks... He was a truly a musical genius. I sure do love Jerry Reed and hope to meet him in heaven... Maybe playing some "Stringed instruments" with King David. ~Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: Make a loud noise and rejoice and sing praise.~ (Psalm 98:4) KJB

COUNTRY! and performed by a gentleman, no jumping up and down, no smoking pot on stage, no dancing. just a man and his guitar singing, no fake sound effects. I guess todays stars lack one little thing **TALLENT**!

Been a huge JR fan for ... well, just about ever, I guess. Was fortunate enough to see him in concert in Battle Creek MI, great seats, and there was a young couple that got up and clog danced during one of his songs. He was delighted! Heard this song first by the man that wrote it, Steve Goodman, and have heard it by many people since, but this is one of the best versions ever. RIP, Jerry, give Elvis a hug and get down to some serious jams!

Jerr'y best trick was hiding his musical genius behind his good-ole-boy facade, but every once in a while it would shine like this wonderful piece of simplicity. Just listen to the intro and the exit. Just too sweet for words. And, just like his hero, Chet, he loved to be surrounded by great musicians. Not an ounce of ego. Sure miss you, man.

Videos like this put things into perspective, It doesn't matter how much you make, how many houses you own, how many causes you front. When it all comes down to it, all that matters is how you lived, how you live and how many people remember you and what they remember you for. In this case, the man matters more than the possessions. Jerry Reed was a great guy that was a good man and that's how we remember him. I remember you Jerry and the world is a better place for you being here.

Billy Phillips showed me Jerry Reed's amazing Travis picking when I was ten. It sounded like three guitars in unison! I'm thirty three now, and recently reacquainted with Jerry Reed's picking and singing. The wind has been knocked out of me. Here's to Daddy Claxton, may his name forever stand... And always be remembered in the courts throughout the land. His earthly race is over, and the curtains 'round him fall... We'll take him home to victory on the Wabash Cannonball. I miss you Wild Man!
