The MDA Labor Day Telethon was an enchanting yearly variety show that ran for half a century. Hosted for many years by Jerry Lewis, the telethon featured top stars from the world of music, comedy, and Broadway and was like no other show on earth.

This is the first time I seen this since I seen it " Live " 50 years ago. I was 13 and remember it a little differently. I could have sworn the telethon was 3 days long ? I remember Jerry falling asleep at his desk often.

Jerry was amazing in his own right. The Percodan was used to calm the excruciating pain in his back he did not take it because he was a drug addict!

@@brendalg4 In 1978 he STOPPED TAKING PERCODAN. He completely cleaned himself up! He took it for back pain, that man lived with excruciating back pain until his death. And he admitted that Percodan, when he took it, had changed his character, made him become almost violent. Percodan had these side effects I found out. That man has ALWAYS BEEN SINCERE with his audience, he has never hidden anything.
There was an appearance of the Robot from Lost In Space in 1975 on this telethon. I would love it if you could post that clip!

Sometimes Jerry could be disgusting and inappropriate with his humor. That stunt of him dropping his pants on nationwide TV in front of God and everyone else was totally uncalled for.
