I am 63 and never have been a “fan“ but just in the last two weeks watching these interviews and documentaries on Jerry‘s life I’ve come to deeply love and respect him as a person… I only wish I had met him before he passed. Also, Howard Cosell conducts an excellent interview… Perfect questions very respectful and he finds Jerry just as fascinating as I do. Thank you for posting this, this was excellent.

You can tell when Jerry really respects his interviewer. He is so kind and open to the questions. If he doesn't like and/or respect the interviewer, he is a beatch.. LOL. Love Jerry.

It's so nice to watch a show where the guest is allowed to fully answer a question. These days on "talk shows" the host does all the talking and never lets the guest say anything.

It's also nice to actually listen to an interview without a studio audience applauding and cheering after everything the guest says.

Great interview. People back then in the 70's&80's just had a lot more class and the shit that's on today just doesn't compare

There were no two more consummate professionals as Howard Cosell and Jerry Lewis, two of my favorite people, and I know many people cannot stand either of them, that's their loss. First time watching this, thank you for the upload.

I loved Cosell. Both of these guys were prickly as hell, and it affected their interactions with almost everyone, but no one understands how they had to fight to get where they got. Show business is a nasty, catty, and fickle hell that only the rare few can survive with their sanity intact. Lewis had to fight for everything from day one. You either do that, or lesser people with more power than they deserve take advantage of you. Their egos were gargantuan, but they earned them.

Jerry speaking of Sinatra: "People are so quick to read something and believe something...I know the man, not the image" love those words! He is right! People can be very judgmental and talking bad about people they don't even know! That's what a lot of people did and still do when talking about Jerry...I see some nasty comments about Jerry on you tube ...it's appalling!

He had 6 sons which received trusts, money, and jobs throughout their lives, and were all adult men when he and Patti Lewis divorced. Patti, his wife had $450,000 in alimony a yr. Please don't speak on things you are ignorant about.

As a Comm. intern, I ran into Howard in the MNF broadcast booth and called him the following day. Here's the convo: [Me: "Hi, Mr. Cosell, I'm Mr. B, the guy who makes amazing football predictions on the Larry King Show, can I give you one for the next Monday Night's game?" Howard: "Young man, I'm going to ask you to never call me again." Click!] I couldn't stop laughing because I had been dissed by the best. You must develop thick skin to survive a career in broadcasting. I'm not one to cast stones at my childhood hero, Jerry, but if you google his first family plus, you'll find that behind the moral wall of his public persona, his private life suffered a great pratfall reminiscent of Humpty Dumpty.

Fast forward to 2017 when he died--disinherited all those sons and left an estimated 50 million dollar fortune to the second wife and daughter by second wife. His darn money to leave to whomever he wanted, I'm with him not agin' him. But something happened there.

The $50 million was net worth, not actual money in the bank. He wasn't able to finance movie projects he wanted to, since the 80's after he went bankrupt. He did some films just for the money. Sure he was richer than most people, but he always spent more than his means, and all the money he had that went to his daughter and wife, was there to pay bills. His daughter and wife had to sell off most of his belongings at auction, to pay his debts. His daughter said on her blog and a video now deleted from youtube, that she spent her savings during the pandemic when she lost her job. Jerry had set up trusts for his sons, according to his son Chris. There are a lot of reasons why he disowned some of his sons. Anthony stole from money that Jerry was sending to care for his first wife, Patti. The care facility alerted Jerry that they weren't getting paid, and Jerry confronted his son about it. Jerry didn't prosecute, but really didn't talk to him much after that. Probably why Anthony decided to do a spite interview after his dad passed away. They had been somewhat close for years prior, and Anthony had been closer to his dad after his parents divorce. In her book, Patti Lewis claimed that Anthony shut her out, and didn't allow her to see her grandchildren for years.
