Yes, I heard the same thing. Some of her employees had hard times & crisis and Joan Rivers was there financially & emotionally( calling to check on them & invited one to move in for awhile until she got on her feet)! Joan was friendly & helpful, none of this “Don’t look me in the eye baloney as with so many!” She was a nice, caring woman who treated everyone with respect I heard as well from someone who worked for her production crew & then those who worked on one of her tv shows.

This is the TRUE Jerry Lewis. I was a Lewis fan, since I was 5 years old. Through my life I heard a couple of stories from people that had worked for him. Both told me that he was a mean person. The Lewis you see in the movies & TV, was ALWAYS acting...including interviews. I didn’t want to believe those stories because I really loved him - in a father/daughter way - and admired him. That all changed when he died. Finding out that he left nothing to all 5 sons & grandchildren. It still makes me angry that he was so mean. This is why I say that this is the true Lewis.

Naw, the young lady doing the interview was not excellent.. Not in the least bit.. She doesn't even have a pleasant speaking voice.. Very nasal-like, robotic tone, which is what you get with most young "mainstream American" females.. Keep in mind this interview was done several years ago.. The actual sound & cadence of speech for most of these so-called "media chicks" is WORSE than ever.. (Very rough on the ears.. Too whiney sounding, with no melody in her voice.. Everything rings flat..) Recognise, I'm not defending Jerry Lewis and his typical over the top narcissism; but praising her as if she did a brilliant job during this brief interview clip is ridiculous.. It's unbelievable how standards for NEARLY EVERYTHING have fallen so low in the U.S.. A sign of the times I suppose..

r april I think it’s pretty safe to say that Dean was much loved by many people, both inside and outside the business. If you watch old videos about him on You tube, just about everyone who knew him all said what a genuinely nice guy he was, with a wonderful sense of humour. He was known in private life to be a very quiet, reticent man (very different from his public ‘party animal’ image), but with a very sharp wit who could break everyone up with one of his famous ad-libs! Even Jeannie, whom he often cheated on, spoke warmly of him being; “a wonderful, loving father and husband.... if there was pain, and there was, there was always much more laughter.” How many wronged wives would ever say that about their ex spouse? And significantly, even after he died, which is usually when all sorts of people come out of the woodwork to say what a horrible person someone really was, that never really happened with Dean. Unlike, as can be seen here in this comments section, his ex stage partner Jerry.

Joan was right. That’s why he was so angry. According to his own autobiography Lewis picked a Holliday he could “own”. He latched on to a charity to which no other celebrity was associated and asked his performer friends to “work for free”. He said he planned it all out so he and his name would be synonymous with a Holliday, “...like Santa Clause took Christmas!” He wrote that everybody thought he was crazy, but he would show them. It was always about him and his career. It was never about the kids, other than being a vehicle. However, later I think he convinced himself he was truly a saint for saving children, when what he actually did was successfully stick with his original plan.

I think you put it perfectly!!! You sized up exactly what that fool was all about & to many reports around, just like yours of what a totally a&$hole Jerry Lewis really was! Look how he treated his 6 sons( one committed suicide due his nightmarish early childhood.... beatings & emotional abuse by their self absorbed & narcissistic father!) & one homeless daughter! I think that says it all with how he treated his children! Thank-you for sharing your story about this jerk & “YOU WERE THERE SO SAW IT ALL WITH YOUR OWN EYES”, with us all! I so appreciate it for you saw him & what he was really like( heard stories like this all the time!) his whole career. No wonder Dean Martin didn’t speak to him for 20 yrs & he was hated by his fellow comedians!

At one time JL was considered a great comic actor and did in fact make millions of people laugh. When I was 10 years old, I considered him the funniest person I'd ever seen on the screen. Over the years and up until his death, he revealed himself to be a mean, caustic vile man. His last interview, where he had a golden chance to leave a visual record of what was once considered a comic genius, turned into an interview of a rude, mean spirited and bitter man churning out vile garbage to a young interviewer who just wanted to know more about him. Well, now we now just who he was. Whatever the opposite of RIP is, that's what I wish on Lewis.

Yes, me too, Timothy. I was sad, and confused when Joan Rivers passed away; that she appeared to be in good health. Or at least healthy enough. I believe she was one of the best comedians in the industry of comedy, and comics. Furthermore, from what I heard she cared about most people. Joan Rivers's brand of humour what a bit insulting, certainly true. However, within that area of comedy there is the example of Don Rickles, and he worked, and acted in that realm of comedy; he was that way, too. It's the sort, or area of Comedy; I don't agree with some of the jokes Joan Rivers had expressed. What about Jerry Lewis, did he not express anything insultingly funny about anything, or anybody?

Although he raised millions for people in need, and brought laughter and happiness to countless people around the world, he has to be one of the most bitter people ever to walk in the planet. As I’m sure you’re aware, a high number of Jews have been Nobel Peace Prize winners. You obviously hate this group of people whose achievements, charity and gifts to this world far outweigh the bad apples among them. The Torah is what ultimately brought ethics and morality to Western civilization through Abrahamic monotheistic religion. You sir are the evil POS.
