@Cody Rucker Because anyone who has studied this guy, clearly understands how messed up he was. In many interviews he comes across as arrogant and deeply insecure. He beat women. He had a HUGE inferiority complex. And, he had just a few measly hits. And that's why he always felt deeply insecure when anyone mentioned the king.

Lol What I like about Jerry Lee is the fact he tells it like it is and doesn't try a paint a phony image of himself. He is a legend no matter what troubles & tragedies he went through over the years, he came out the other side with his big, sly smile and playing his heart out! Jerry Lee was torn between two worlds. He had a God given talent and in his own words later in life said he knew he was always doing the devils buisness. Therefore, was a tormented soul. Once you have been raised in the church such as he was you can never get away from it. Like many, he turned to substance to drown out his true calling. I'm very thankful the last few years of his life he made his soul right with God. "It's how a man dies"!

@@country8543 Are you kidding?! You must be too young to remember the scandal and the backlash Jimmy Swaggart had to pay for his sin. He was reduced in man's eye to the shell of the man of God he was before it all came to light. If a man repents God forgives, but it is people who don't and won't forget. What a shame. If we are without sin, then cast the first stone. As far as Jerry Lee I was only repeating what he himself said. I have done a lot of research on the 3 talented Ferriday boys from Louisiana. BTW, I liked Jerry Lee Lewis!

Jerry unfiltered. You have to keep looking and listening because he compels your attention. He’s got that “it thing” going on both off and on stage. He’s the real deal. I call them originals, a whole new mold-he calls them stylists that you can count on one hand-and he is one of them. Due to attention on his chaotic private life he’s never gotten his due as the seminal, complete-package artist he really is.

It certainly doesn't look easy to interview Jerry Lee - even feeding his ego doesn't guarantee he won't snap at you! He doesn't like answering the same old questions, and if you do get him to talk, he'll mumble and ramble at random and include a few bits you can't put on TV... And then he might start demanding to know whether the interviewer has been sanctified..

As a huge fan, technically he wasn't a very good musician: could only play in a few keys, C, D, F and G - easy for the piano, couldn't read music at all and his technique was poor. It was stage presence and performance energy and aggression that made him stand out. He certainly couldn't outplay trained jazz or classical musicians. He was heavily influenced by Moon Mullican although he flitted between admitting this or saying nobody at all influenced his playing style. An odd man who comes across here as egotistical, unpredictable and a bit unhinged. Still, a good showman who made some timeless records.
