    The fact is Taker is perfectly happy staying home with this family. Part of the reason for the high price is actually as a deterrent. If he charged $5,000 every Tom, Dick and Harry would be trying to book him to their bowling alley. The high price makes it more selective, and few and far between.

    Imagine this, it’s the night of your wedding day, you’re about to walk down the isle. The ring bearer, flower girl, they’ve all walked down the isle already. Suddenly it’s your turn, everyone is anxious with anticipation, then out of nowhere the room goes pitch black. “Awh’s” echo from the people. Next, boom this ominous organ key hits, smoke slowly starts filling the entrance way. Then wow! The Undertaker shows up through the smoke and slowly starts walking down the isle. Several hoots and hollers can be heard from everyone in attendance, even some screams! Undertaker finally makes his way up to the Priest who’s almost shaking with fear. With eyes rolled back in his head The Undertakers voice bellows out “Rest. In. Peace.” And proceeds to tombstone the priest in front of everyone including your entire family!

    Undertaker was my all time favorite wrestler, but I'd rather hang out with Jerry Lawler. He is so funny and has many interesting stories to tell. Him and JR were half the entertainment back in the Attitude era. If it wasn't for them I'd have gotten bored of many matches and quit watching wrestling long before I did.

    That's the old price Wheel of Fortune used to give away on their show back from 1987 to 2002. He's a future legend for sure but that's too much.

    He’s not obligated to even have to do any appearances in general. He’s been a top draw/well payed performer since the Mid 90s. Why travel to an event / spend your time if it isn’t worth it to you.

    I remember hearing about The Dudley’s and Ric Flair charging close to this amount for appearances, over time their prices dropped. I’m guessing because a lot of independent promoters can’t afford this price.

  • @Matt-cr4vv

    @Matt-cr4vv

    It’s pretty common that when wrestlers leave the giant to do independent stuff that it begins with a really high rate because of the initial excitement to book you and as time goes on the price lowers over time as demand lessens. It all depends on the event obviously - if Taker had done Starrcast the event would’ve profited on him because you’d charge a nice fee to interact with him and such which fans would’ve jumped to pay at the time. But obviously you can’t raise your prices over time if you start out by underpricing yourself so it makes sense to start out maybe quoting more than you expect to get and you can always negotiate lower if needed. Easy to quote $25K and agree to $20K that a promoter is willing to pay versus quoting $15K and then agreeing to less when they would’ve been willing to pay you $20K if you’d quoted a higher price.

    For anyone thinking "holy shit" and pondering the math: 1,000,000.00 for a 40 hour work week 52,000,000.00 per year 4,333,333.33 per month AFTER TAXES, health insurance, 401k, etc. Using 65% as the figure for deductions Take home would be roughly: 350,000.00 per week 18,200,000.00 per year 1,516,666.67 per month I'm NO math wizard, or tax genius, etc. But, curiosity lead me to run some numbers right quick. Shit, he coulda/shoulda retired YEARS ago to do this. I'm pretty sure he will have no problem filling his appointment book up.... WAY more profitable than risking his old ass body in the ring. His popularity was solidified MANY years ago. That is crazy money for just making personal appearances. BUT, I would think it would get boring, real quick, playing the character, all day, every day, for a year. Then again, most of us go to jobs we cant stand, or are bored by, every day, for years and years. Then again, I would assume it's very different, when u are extremely wealthy. The options available to someone like him, are numerous. I would think he was the type of guy to have VERY smart ppl, managing his money, from very early on, and literally doesnt have to do shit the rest of his life. He prolly makes more, in a month, just off interest, than shlubs like us, do, in a lifetime. I can only IMAGINE being in a position like that. Good for him. He MADE that character, and worked for years and years and years making himself an icon that can now go out, in his 60s, and make 25 grand an hour. Truly a success story.

    You can hire Jerry Lawler for a wedding? That's it, if I ever get married, I want The King presiding over it. As for Taker, I don't see that as unreasonable given that he didn't really do interviews or anything like this until recently, so he'll have a lot of stories that no one has ever heard before. The mystery that has always surrounded the character and the man behind it would make people willing to pay that kind of money. Plus given all the injuries he's had over the years, he probably needs that money to cover his medical bills. It's also USA wide so he'd need to cover travel and hotel costs. It's not a fee that your average wrestling fan could afford to get him to come to their birthday party, but Comic Con style events would be more than willing to pay that as they'd make their money back pretty quickly.

    Honestly if I was a multi-millionaire I'd pay him $50,000 or maybe even more and set up a tab for him at a bar to just sit and chat with him about his career and listen to him tell some stories for two hours or more over some drinks. You'd definitely get your money's worth just listening to him talk about stories of being on the road in the 90s and the storylines he's been in.

    I don’t think it’s too much. And really, who the hell wants The Undertaker hanging around in full costume for more than 1 hour anyway? My inclination is this rate would be appropriate for conventions and other events with large budgets.
