Jerrry Bunke Speaks - Kawaratha Cup 1977

Midnight Blue Express Polaris racer Jerry Bunke takes the Kawaratha cup in 1977 in front of a huge crowd. Great racing footage of Jerry, Jim Dimmerman (Team Arctic), Larry Omans (Yamaha), Dick Trickle (Yamaha) and others. Jerry Bunke is interviewed two times during the video.

Very cool to stumble across this video. I've been looking for clips of my dad Randy racing. He is in the mod 340 class in this race. Cheers.

Rest in Peace the Late Jerry Bunke, Sam Sessions, and others during the 70s.

Remember watching Waldheim Sno Pro in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan 78, 79,80. Had myself little Yamaha srx440. Won a few poker rally’s, and drag races with sled. Bullet proof.

Had no idea until now that Dick Trickle raced sleds also. A Wisconsin legend. RIP

Funny how Polaris front suspension in 1977 was better than some of the years leading up to 2005.

Yes. It is funny. Polaris Midnight Express did so successful in 1977 season but slipped when Arctic Cat did well by 1978 and Scorpion in 1979 and 80.

Jerry Bunke was building new suspensions with a mechanical genius named Ernie Tuff back in Rushford, MN. Look up Ernie Tuff. He made a mark in NASCAR back in the 60’s.

Crazy the crowds that used to attend. But in the 70's you could actually count on the winter... Typical of today, it rained 5-10mm yesterday...

I remembered I went to Weedsport, NY Eastern States Sno Pro Championship February 1, 1980. It was raining that Sunday afternoon. They did have to cut many races to focus on Sno Pro only and Brad Hulings won every heat he was in and won the finals. Its nothing new about rain but yes, less now these days everywhere.
