    It is really possible to stay awake for 3 days straight without drugs. Without medication to go to sleep I'll stay awake for days and be very creative writing songs and poetry. So it doesn't surprise me Prince didn't get much sleep.

    Back in the 80's, Prince was in his 20's, so going days with only a snooze, at best, is possible for most with nothing more than a caffeine sodas, coffee, and No Doze. Eventually that type of living catches up to you in by your late 30's or into your 40's. But Prince eventually needed pain killers, because his body was breaking down on him due to the aging process, the wear and tear of repetitive motion, awkward seating, body positioning, and torqueing on the muscles and joints needed to play instruments, and just the life unhealthy lifestyle of being an on the road live performer. No one is invincible, and all the artist who had to be on the road to make their money, suffered and died from health issues. Heart, high blood pressure, diabetes, alcohol and drug abuse, just to name a few.

    @JSU Tigers - Prince never had hip surgery. The incision noted on his autopsy was from an arthroscopic procedure due to it's small size. Prince needed a complete hip replacement like Morris did, but never went through with it. Had he gone through with it, the incision would had covered about 70+% of this hip area.

  • @thespadestable

    @thespadestable

    2 жыл бұрын

    @JSU Tigers - Prince was already having hip issues and was taking pain meds. A doctor did the procedure to help clean out the area and not require blood transfusion, but to give him a better quality of life, he needed to hardware insertion. Morris said he put his off, but since having it done, it changed his life, to include allowed him to perform on stage without the pain. Besides his hip, Prince was suffering from hand and wrist pain. Pretty much Prince's performance career was over, but was trying to wing a miracle before he died.

  • @thespadestable

    @JSU Tigers - It's called, once worked in diagnostic radiology and having to sit in on hip and knee replacements, because surgeons need exposures taken to determine the placement of the hardware. That means sitting in one spot while the hammer, drill, and sometimes screw to get the hardware into the bone. To hammer the hardware in, means cutting the leg wide enough to to make room. A 3-4 inch incision is not big enough.

    So there is a genetic mutation that allows certain individuals to only need 4 hours of sleep per night. Most former Prince associates say he slept very little, and if he did a 48 hour marathon recording session, he'd sleep the next day, get up, and start all over again. There was a bed installed at Sunset Sound, and his engineers said he would nap and write music on it, and whatever else. I love Jerome's loyalty to Prince. He and Andre are examples of those Prince loved and trusted. Also love Peggy Mac, who is straightforward about Prince. She keeps it real, and refrains from the psychobabble and girlfriend analysis of another engineer, who sounds utterly pompous, IMHO.
