I would dare to say that she is also better fhan your own, so far unsurpassed musical spiritual mother, Aretha. Jennifer has a terribly firm, powerful, strongest voice with an incredibly wide range. Aretha did not want Jennifer to play her. She wanted Audra McDonald to play her. She was convinced by Clive Davis to endorse Jennifer, because that is what he wanted. And the bullshit below this comment about Aretha mentioning Jennifer in many interviews, is just that BULL.

Well A friend of Aretha said that she told her that she only wanted Jhud to play her and Aretha has mentioned Jennifer name as a candidate in many interviews and she chose her personally in the end honestly Jennifer is the best choice and Aretha worked with Jennifer on the biopic before she passed so she was happy with her choice she never said she didnt want Jennifer she was always an option when it came to who she wanted to portray only person Aretha said no to when brought up as an option was Queen Latifah

But once Clive got involved, he wanted Jennifer to do, near the end of her life, he had convince Aretha to endorse Jennifer. But the reality is, she wanted Audra, and relented because Clive Davis was going to have his way anyway.

It's mostly singers who use *heavy* autotune and are deemed "talented" by my generation. Although there are people like Kelly Clarkson and Jojo, I can only assume that the original commenter meant that JHUD should've been born in Mariah's and Celine's time

She has really created a buzz on this performance...it was still the time when the news about Aretha handpicked jhud to play her on her biopic was fresh yo everybody. I still remember after this performance someone uploaded this, and it reached 3.5 M views in just 1 month, but it was later deleted by youtube...and then we have this page reuploaded the performance that was little-zoomed so it will not be suited for copyright again.... so thank u to this page who took effort to reupload the performance, we can go back to this anytime we wanted to see jennifer's vocal prowess...

I agree with the comments that she is the best of her generation and probably several before. When she opens her mouth to sing everyone smiles. I have yet to see a video where people aren't smiling. Even when she was a coach on the Voice, the other coaches would stop and listen, and start to smile whenever she started to sing. God has gifted this wonderful person with the gift of joy in music which she shares unconditionally and unselfishly with the world! I love her!
