JENKEM - The Skateshop run out of a Tiny NYC Apartment

Skateboarding goes through economic ups and downs, and when it starts to look bleak, it’s the people who actually care about skateboarding, who will do anything to make it work, that will survive. Eugene Kang is one of these people, running Terminal skateshop out of his tiny living room in NYC, making a living selling skateboards. There are no store hours or restrictions: If he picks up the phone and he’s awake, he’s open for business. Eugene will even deliver and bring skate goods to you, if you aren’t too far away of course. With the skateshop only being advertised through word of mouth, the shop isn’t that well known outside of his neighborhood yet. To find out more, we took the train uptown to check out his apartment / shop and documented this local’s story with support from Levi’s Skateboarding.

Wow! I haven’t checked the comment section in super long. Terminal is still going and will continue to support/promote skateboarding in every which way that it can. This has been my love and passion for so many years and I’m grateful I’ve had the opportunity to share it with so many of you guys. Thank you all for your kind words, I couldn’t have done any of this without you, I truly appreciate it.

You should keep selling lego too, there lots of cool skate stuff and you can build fingerboard parks with it.
Haha, i was crashed out in the living room while this interview was getting done. Eugene's always looking out for the homies. Let me crash for 2weeks when he barely knew me. Legend.

I accidentally left my skateboard on the train coming from the airport into the city... Went to Terminal to get a new setup, such a sick experience. Eugene is as down to earth as it gets... I still rep the Terminal stickers on my board after 4 years! 😂🤙🏽

Last year we visited this park when is was freshly repainted, no graffiti. Some dude shows up on his skateboard with a 24oz Coors and a little white dog. Awesome guy and fun to watch on a skateboard. Like 6 months go by and my friend shows me an instagram page for a dude who runs a shop out of his apartment. Then we found this video. Feel honored to share the park that day with this guy.

If you were a skater in NYC during the mid to late 80's then you knew about "Benji's". Benji was the first dude selling skate stuff out of his apartment over by the Brooklyn Banks. That dude was clutch when the other shops were closed and you needed something immediately.

ik im super late but I remember when I started skating like 2yrs ago and I only had a Walmart board, a friend suggested I check out his shop and I did, it's where I got new bearings and wheels(since then I've bought a new board that I still use till this day). He's pretty chill and cool, would 10/10 recommend to check out his place and support him if you live nearby.
I just really appreciate how content he is with his way of living, its something that should be rubbed off on all of us
I think everyone should watch this video even if they dont skate

At the end when it shows him skating and talking about life, that hit me. That was deep guys a legend
