Jen Wilkin | Female Bravery and God's Mission | TGC Podcast

Jen Wilkin spoke at TGC’s 2021 National Conference on the topic of “Female Bravery and the Mission of God.”
Walking through Scripture, Wilkin relayed stories of women who feared God rather than men and stood against the Serpent, risking their very lives. The imagery revealed in the stories, she taught, is the metaphor necessary for the modern church to understand in order to also be shrewd as a serpent and innocent as a dove-overcoming the enemy that wages war against our very souls.

You can also thank Yeshua/Jesus the Christ because He elevated women to first evangelist/witness to the resurrection. Mary was sitting at His feet, where a woman shouldn’t be and when Martha complained, Jesus showed what He thought was most important. Women are to submit in the home but it is really as a partner that God created women and while women may suffer because they bear the children I have always seen it as a blessing. Not only do women have a different, very special relationship with the children, but I don’t think men are strong enough. Women go thru pain in the delivery that is the equivalent of having multiple bones broken in a car accident and they do it again and again. God bless all the women in the world with men who see the importance of women and also see the blessing that women are. Shalom Aleichem

The Bible is clear on is amazing sanctifying role of women in the marriage and the church. They are to help the men lead and support their mission (Titus 2:3-5, 1 Peter 3:1-6, 1 Timothy 2:10-15)

I love so much of this! I would’ve loved to hear her address how the lying women in the Bible were descriptive but not applicable to all of us now. Yes, as Jen says, these women used the serpent’s tactics against him to temporarily defeat evil in these stories. However, there is a contrast when Jesus uses His sinless purity and defeats Satan! We can look forward to Jesus defeating all evil with His pure tactics! Then, because of Jesus’ example, we can embrace Jesus’ tactics to fight Spiritual battles with the armor God gives! Not lies anymore!

Female bravery is ok as long as it is kept within the roles God has given women. The church should not be pushing feminism but godly womanhood.

This has nothing to do with what is written in the bible and if she had tried to teach this during the exodus, after the laws had been given, she would have been stoned to death for her blasphemy. I wouldn't want anyone ever to do that to her in this day and age. The savior is already sitting at the right hand of God the Father to judge the living and the dead when the time comes. Back then they needed to stop such blasphemy so that Jesus could come. Today we just need to call it out before Jesus returns.

  • @user-io4wg9uv1s

Boy, the negative comments below are unbelieving. Where does do not judge come in? Putting another person down as many as you did is ungodly. You need to stop and think about what you are saying and doing. Who makes you the one to say she should go home, she shouldn't be preaching, which she isn't, she's teaching. Thinking she is condescending, she was making a joke. I would imagine if it was early in the morning, the people weren't responding very well and she was trying to get them to interact. Just quite being nasty!!

A lot of her words are her commentary and not what Moses himself chose to put into the Scriptures. She is putting into Scriptures her own speculations. The Law had not been given yet. This is not about womanhood. What about Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was the most brave woman of all.

Agreed! She is a feminist and very slick with her words. She is exactly what Jude warns of about the great apostasy. She feasts among you and is actually evil. Keep looking at her patterns of glorifying women, putting men down and glorifying lying. Yikes!!!! Even a soft voice and kind face that reads from scripture can come as a wolf in sheep's clothing.

@abraham Philip- good for you to question. That is how we learn. A woman according to scripture, (1st Timothy 2:12 & the one mentioned above to start) tells us the order of God’s plan. Women who honestly love God and His Word, should therefore be obedient to His Word. There is no shame or humiliation in that. On the contrary, a women is clothed in honor in obedience to her heavenly Father.
