i think it’s really cool that there is some immortal jelly fish out there that has lived through all the crazy parts of history, the jelly fish wasn’t apart of those things but it’s nice to think about how it has lived during lots of tough times in human history and still made it through ok... makes me feel a bit better

Immortal is a misnomer, a creature that does not age can be called ageless, but they will still die if you drop them into the sun, another creature that does age but does not die due to ageing (some lobsters) can be said to never grow senile, but still pretty mortal if they get eaten by a predator. These jellyfish can effectively re-spawn as a baby, but can still be killed, so not quite immortal. I doubt anything is immortal in the true sense of the word.

Don’t worry, unless you are diving super deep or visiting the North or South Pole, you have nothing to fear. On the other hand, some of the most dangerous species are microscopic and live near heavily populated human settelments, so you should be scared about that.

I want to see a video about deep sea creatures that live around the hydrothermal vents. Am I wrong in thinking that these animals could have been around the longest of any "animal"? The deeps oceans have been around forever and have went relatively unchanged compared to the land masses

Well the oldest are the "bacteria similar" archea. Most of them are thermophile, so they die at temperatures beneath 90°C. Also like all other species have them as grandparents. And the coolest thing: some of these might live around Europe, one of Iupiters moons. on this moon there is water and fountains and there is the chance, that some of the 'soil' of Io, the moon which is before Europe, might have blown over and life developed. IF there is life there, it would be independent from our sun, because the light barely reaches out there. there is just jupiter and his heat and also these sulfides, that also appear around hydrothermal vents.

Kinekuri But that's what makes it so interesting! Think about it; you don't know if you'll ever be the same. Just the genes will be the same, no guarantee about the personality. That means that you won't be bound by your past lives. It may be just me, but I'm big on material things. The idea of teleporting people by transporting information and reconstructing it through other atoms scares me and so does uploading your consciousness because I don't know if it'll accurately represent me. However, things like retaining brain functions and putting it through a robot and immortality through cycles of literal rebirth make me certain that I am still me in a literal sense.

Today we _could_ repair our our old computers and other gadgets to make them last practically indefinitely. But we do not -- everybody wants the newest model! One day, biotechnology will get so advanced that it will be possible to repair humans and make them last forever. Do you think many people will want to stay _the same_ forever? Because if we could repair humans, we would probably also be able to "upgrade" them in many fantastic ways. Wouldn't you want to experience the world as a bird does, or be able to swim to the bottom of the ocean, or be able to comprehend the mysteries of universe better than Einstein? And if you do change in every fantastic way possible, are you still going to be you?

This is such a great video!! My only criticism is it seems like you showed the jellies stinging with their bells. While some jellyfish can and do sting through their bells and tentacles, most only sting with their tentacles and it is perfectly safe to touch their bells! Otherwise this video is awesome :)
